Cigarette lighter
« on: February 19, 2017, 13:53:07 »
My cigarette lighter works as far as it heating up etc but does not work when i plug in a sat nav etc.
I have tried 3 different sat navs and none of them receive any power, is this a common problem and if so how do i get over it.
I don't really want to fit an additional lighter.  Its a 1969 US Spec car.

Marilyn,

I have found the cigarette lighter socket slightly larger than what is suitable for the plugs on modern devices.  A work around is to take a foam earplug to "Snug-up" the connection.  This works well for me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tom,
The plugs on the devices seem to fit in the lighter socket ok but they just don't seem to connect !
Does every body else's work ok ?

I have run into the issue as Tom types. The lighter socket is a bit larger than the plug for my GPS, the earplug idea works. I have not had any issues with getting connected to the power.
