Used Headrests
« on: March 25, 2017, 15:51:18 »
As you can see guys, I'm in the thick of things, but getting there! Any advice on where I might pick up a set of headrests?? My seats haven't got them but the fittings are there, and I got covers to match the seats. Used/cover condition not an issue. Cheers.

Hi Joh,
see German ebay, there you'll find cheaper ones. Look for "Kopstutzen Mercedes /8", same for W114/115=/8 and others.
E.g. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Kopfstutzen-vorne-Halter-Schaumstoff-o-Bezug-Mercedes-Benz-W108-8-Pagode-W109-/192131663372?hash=item2cbbf0860c:g:clMAAOSwUKxYb7CT.
You may ask for it in Pagodentreff.de (http://www.pagodentreff.de/diskussionsforum/f16-suche-biete-tausche.html).

Joh,

Talk to Stick, as he suggests and you will probably save yourself a lot of time.

I added head rests to mine and discovered that not all of the holes on the head rest mounting brackes lined up. My 280 SL seats had pre drilled head rest mounting bracket holes (or they seemed to be).

I may be wrong but I could not help but feel that had I started with the correct brackets life would have been easier.

Stick I am sure will be a good source of advice and have the correct parts.

Oh Yeah!
Have had a set offered to me for $50.
Also, got leather seat covers with head rest included, so condition not really an issue.
Any news on the pads?

JOH,

I've got a set of black leather ones, which i am not going to use.

I'm in the states, so freight may be more than they are worth.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll send pics.  I would want $50 for the pair too.  I don't have the mounting rails inside the seat though.

Cheers Peter.
Had a chat with a few guys this lunchtime [Thursday 30th.] and they seem to think that a lot of these fittings are standard?
I will be in touch with the STICK - in any case, and will most likely defer to his council as he has a proven track record.

Joh, from my very limited experience they are all standard to a degree within designated models and without to much fuss will fit.
My 280SL seats seemed to have been made with predrilled holes for the fixing screws but either the upper ones or lower ones did not line up with those on the head rest brackets.  It was just a simple case redrilling one hole per bracket.

Looking at the various offferings on eBay at the time I noticed that some appeared to have longer brackets than others which got me thinking, but otherwise it's a pretty straightforward process as the link mentioned in earlier replies shows.

Good luck.

Anything on the pads? Bumpers are scheduled to be refitted any day now.
If you can't get them in the short-term, perhaps I'll bring the car back to have them fitted?
Colour has come up well and getting there.
