Brake light switch - where is it?
« on: June 17, 2016, 01:21:44 »
I have a 1970 SL.
Both brake lights are out.
Bulbs and fuses look ok.
I am Guessing it's the switch.
Where is it? Is it under the dash near the pedal, or under the hood?
I saw a drawing that made it look like it might be inside the black rubber boot under the hood (on the engine side of the firewall, right where the brake linkage comes through the firewall from the pedal, but I can't see how it could be there..
Where is it and how hard is it to replace?
Thank you!

It is tucked away under the dash above the brake pedal lever. Rather difficult to get to. Follow the front side of the lever up and you will see it.

Thank you very much.
I found it, removed it and tested it.
I confirmed it is bad!
I am ordering a new one tonight.
Thank you again!
