Trunk lock
« on: October 05, 2013, 00:05:25 »
The trunk lock on my Mercedes Fintail 230, 1967 is in need of a key. To make one, I dismantled it up to the barrel housing, but I am unable to extract the barrel, finding nothing to remove to get it. If somebody know the manner to release the barrel, I will be pleased to get a tip.
Thanks in advance,
A. Hudon

Now, I can answer my own question and probably help somebody  in the process of making a new key for is trunk lock.
The barrel casing got a small tab imbedded in the middle. It was impossible to lift, but after drilling a small hole each side of this tab, I was able to lift it and free the barrel. I have now to buy a key blank Taylor M73K or equivalent from Ilco or Curtis and grind it in order to retract all the pins flushed.
