Rear bumper gaurd

I am removing my bumper guards.  How do you remove the lower bolt for the rear guards?  I do not seem to have the correct tool for this job!.

When I replaced the plastic moldings (where the bumper guards fit onto the bumper) I believe I had to remove the bumper to get to the bolt. If there is a special tool, would be cool to know about.

If you do remove the bumper, just make sure to make the number of washers, the locations of the washers, and the positioning of the bumper itself.

Thanks Jonny.  I really hope I don't have to do that so I don't have to repeat the alignment process.  Someone on the site must have a trick for this! 

Anyone have thoughts about this wrench?

That's no problem, Mark.

Taking off the bumpers is not a big job and putting them back on also isn't. :D
Aligning bumpers is also not the most difficult job to do. ;)
If so, it is most likely that the bumpers /or the brackets were bent before; then indeed aligning is a tough part.

It is even advisable to take the bumpers off; you can better get the nuts out of your bumper guards etc. And especially maintain the inner side of your bumpers:
remove dirt, debris and perhaps some rust ... and painting them freshly in 158 white-grey (semi-flat), if necessary.

I removed the bumper guards without removing the bumpers. It was pretty straightforward.
Used a flex ratchet similar to the one in the link you've attached.

The whole job took about 30 minutes.

Why are you removing them? I think they add to the period not only on aesthetic terms but functionality too! And I like the look of them!

From my perspective I feel the car looks so much cleaner; back to its original lines and the way Paul Bracq originally designed it. I'm not worried about functionality, I drive the car almost daily and am always very selective where and how I park it.
