Joes 230sl Restoration
« on: May 13, 2012, 06:59:29 »
Hi All,

First time poster.

I've just undertaken a 230sl restoration project. My garage is a mess at the moment !  ;D
Can anyone help me with determining the year of my car ?
I believe it to be a 1964 but want to confirm..

Does anyone know where to check the vin number range against the year ?
Last 6 digits of my VIN is -002726, Australian delivery...

Regards all, Joe

Hi Joe,

There are a few of us around here in Melbourne or there abouts on the Forum so if you need any help just ask.  As we say here there are no silly questions.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks Tosh and Garry, amazingly that makes the car and I almost identical in age !! Me being a May child and my 230sl being a Feb/March child  ;D
That makes it even better !
Garry I've seen a lot of your posts, thanks for the kind offer and being in Melbourne is ideal !  :)
I imagine I'll have heaps of questions as I get into it.
I might try to post photos too...

Welcome Joe

Hi All,

Another question...
I was looking through the Paint Codes section but didn't see a black.
Did any of the W113s' come out in black ?

Rgds, Joe

Hello Aussie Joe [lots of Joes around here  ;)] ,
which paint code section were you looking at?
Take a look here: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/PaintCodes
the first one shows 040G Black.
