Interior Wood kit - anyone interested
« on: April 16, 2012, 07:12:05 »
Besides owning a 230sl that is being restored, I also own a furniture factory and retail stores. I sell high quality stuff.
Anyway, I just realized that I need a new wood interior kit (dash, console, etc). I am going to have one of my guys make one.
Anyone interested? You guys probably want to see pictures.
Price would be 300-350.
I should have a pix in a week

Hi Marios--

Do you also plan to make the rear window trim for the hardtop?

Yes, I'd like to see pictures.

Let me make the one for my car, finish it and photograph it. Once i have that you guys can decide.
I can make anything as long as I know what I am doing. The RH i can do but i need the old part as template, so one of you would need to send me a part one time. The same applies to the rear window.
The website for my companies are southcone.com and nativainteriors.com

Marios,
Do you intend to make them from a single piece or from laminates as per the original?

Making it in solid wood is not really recommended. Sun, moisture, elements will all deteriorate wood at a faster rate than plywood.
The original used a low quality plywood with three layers of wood. The prototype i had my factory make used a 6 ply plywood keeping the same thickness. It is a materisl used for model airplanes and the quality is superb and made in germany.
The only thing with this plywood is cost but, what the hell, I am not making these parts thinking about profit margins :)

If you can figure a way to keep the studs from pulling out so easily, that would be a major improvement.
