My new seat covers
« on: March 05, 2010, 15:08:16 »
Just received my seat covers and they are wrong.  I have a 1965 230sl and the seat bottoms I received were straight vs having a lobe to specify left or right.  The cover I received look as straight as the backrest portion.  My original seal appears to be a little wider too.  My question is When were the straight bottom seats used?  I dont have head rest and my seats still have the original leather on them. I am hoping I did not just waste a lot of money on something that will not fit. Please help. Thanks
Jesse

Hi Jesse,

The switch over from your seat versus straight seat took place middle of 67, including a lot of other changes. If you bought the seat covers from a supplier you should be able to send them back for the right ones. ask for early type seats.

Good Luck,

Thanks I really thought I was right and the supplier was telling me that the straight versions were from the earliest 230's.  My supplier said they will exchange my bottoms.  The backrest look fine and I am glad the supplier is working with me to correct this issue. I hope to finish this interior by the summer's start.  Again thanks

Shawn..., :o
Ah no.

The seat bottoms' shape was changed in early 1964 at serial 002960 or so from straight to laterally reversed (left hand cushion and right hand cushion).

Glad to hear that your supplier is willing to replace these. ;)

Please show us some pictures when your're done.
Good luck!
