Should I or shoudn't I
« on: December 03, 2009, 05:06:10 »
Well I am at the point where all my interior peices are covered with leather and I was thinking of doing the wood panels behind the seats with matching leather.  I like the look and feel of leather but was wondering if this would be overdoing things.  I would keep the carpet peices around just incase I should want to return back to original.  My plan is to add 2 small portable mahogany boxes to encolose 2 small speakers in each corner. I thought leather would look better then carpet with the finished wood.  What are your thoughts?  thanks

I think having a lot of leather exposed in a small car like this would be an overkill, unless serves a purpose like rear seat, but that's just me. :)

If you mean the carpeted parcel shelves behind the seats, I wouldn't cover those in leather.

I tend to agree. The parcel shelves look better in carpet vs. leather (I've seen it done in a 230 with blue leather interior).

Regarding the speakers, I would suggest an alternate approach if you don't mind:
 - Parcel shelves are inexpensive, so you can get a second set, cover them in square weave carpet and then drill the holes to house the speakers. You can take this one step further, hiding the speakers below the carpet so that they are not visible.

Hope this idea helps.
