Injector Pump Cold Start Solenoid Cleaning
« on: October 08, 2016, 23:23:53 »
Can I remove the Injector pump cold start solenoid to check that the solenoid is not seized etc?  Otherwise I am a little confused on how to test it.
Thanks ...

No need to remove it: with the engine off, touch a hot 12v positive lead to the lead on the CSV solenoid and then a 12v negative to a ground on the engine.  If the solenoid is OK, you will hear it click.

OOPS! I didn't see the picture, and assumed you were talking about the CSV.  The same test may work on the IP solenoid but I can't be sure.  Sorry!

Well that seems to work!
Both solenoids make a sound with 12v on them.

Now check to see if it is activated during starting.

Hi joe
I'm pretty sure my thermo time switch is broken.  I've bench tested it and W is an open circuit no matter what the temp is.
I'll put it back in and put a test lamp on it. I think I am only going to get voltage to the injector solenoid for 1 second... as I think this is how the relay works when the TTS is broken.
I'll report back on a tick...
Thanks for your help...

The injector solenoid gets 1 second of power then nothing...  So I need to pony up the cash for a TTS I think.
