Hey James
I still have a few more, I'll have to dust off.
I think a classic like the Pargoda looks great in a classic or timeless setting.
Somehow a 1995 toyota corolla sitting next to it would take away the effect wouldn't u say

Hey Rob
I resize my pics in Microsoft Office Picture Manager. There is no reference to Resolution or DPI. I simple rescale the pic as a percentage downwards until it gets below the 80kb. The measurement that I see in this program is x pixels by x pixels, Most of my pics are between 400 and 600 pixels wide I am posting Saying that I have a 5meg camera, but most of my original pics are 1meg to 3meg as I thing 5 meg are to big to email, post, store particularly when u have thousands of them. I'm pretty happy with my 1 meg pics
Hope that all makes sense

Beautiful car you have there Rob !
Isn't Sydney a great backdrop for classic cars. You must be close by to me as I recognised most of the locations. I'm based in Rose Bay. Hoping to have my 230SL back on the road by Christmas. might see you out on the road one day !

Hey Frank
Sydney certainly isn't short of great backdrops, thats for sure. And if I'm near a good one, I pull up and grab a pic. Have taken plenty of pics of my car and quickly noted that pics in the driveway or amongst other cars are not near as flattering as that of a good backdrop
I had a look at one of your pages and appears you have quite a restoration project going. And yours is black I believe. it will be good to see some pics of your car by the ocean

That's right Rob, my '66 will be a glossy black exterior together with the black interior. I'm just in the process of putting in the new carpet, retrimming seats, connecting electricals, etc.
Aim is to have her done by Xmas. Then you might spot me around Vaucluse, Watson's Bay, etc taking a few snaps !

I remember seeing a black Pagoda for Sale in the eastern suburbs a year or so ago on the net. If I recall it was Black, with white interior, a great set of whitewalls and looked absolutely magnificent paintwork. I think he wanted 100k for it
So you might not be the only black one about town there. Ihave never seen a black pagoda in the flesh but as my wife drives black Kompressor and they look fantastic when clean, but keeping the dust off them is a challenge even with the likes of my dark blue one.
Look forward to seeing yurs on the road

I know the car you're referring to Rob. I saw it in Double Bay a few times. The owner lives in Elizabeth Bay. It was a superb vehicle. They also own a black Rolls Royce Phantom, 2007 model !
There is one other black Pagoda, believe it or not in the next street to us here in Rose Bay. However it was done in a matt black that doesn't really do justice to the car. But I do agree that keeping black cars clean is a nightmare. I also have a green-black 1996 AMG E36. Every little speck of dirt stands out like the proverbial.
As for the 230SL, I don't think I'll have her ready by Xmas. Still waiting on some parts to come from germany, which will take about 3 weeks. So maybe see you on the road around late Jan, 2008.

Hey Bob
Your better than me, I'll have to look closer at the color codes. Ithink midnite blue is right and the interior an off white/biege I'm unsure as to its name.
I like a nice background in the pictures to the car to compliment it. No other cars unless their a merc aswell!
I think if I were in the UK I'd have plenty of Castle Pics and old bridges

It may be 904 but it could also be 332. My hardtop is the latter and is very similar to Rob's color. Love those photos!

Hello Rob,
Your color code should read 332 which is the correct "dark blue" for a 230 SL.
904 is "Midnight blue" and was only used for the 280ies, not the earlier ones.
Nevertheless, stuningly beauty car & colour combination.

Well you guys got me beat over this one. Will have to pull it out in the light of day and look for the code! Where abouts is the color code signafied? anyone? I know there is a couple of plates attached.
You have my curiosity up.
The one interesting thing about my color is depending how it's sitting in the sun or shade many people have referred to it as black although in most pics it is clearly blue.

Yep the weather here in Sydney is Pagoda weather every day of the year! except the rainy ones of course
I can't help myself, I see a great site or location, I pull up and out comes the camerA. Drives my wife nuts! Par.ticularly when I'm more interested in getting the right picture of the car, not the wife
I am actually a canadian lost here in oz so I can appreciate the snow but I feel for you, the frustration of not driving the pagoda for month's on end, your hard done by!! You have my sympathy
I'm glad you like the pics, I'll keep em coming.
Would love to do the coast roads in the USA one day in a pagoda, with my camera of course

Here's a pic of someone who forgot to put his pagoda away for the winter.I didn't think people would leave these out in the weather like that, let alone a less than secure position I was driving down a busy road your side of the world and my wife yelled there's your car. The pagoda tragic that I am, I turned around in minus 20 and pulled up and took a photo. hmm.

Bird's eye view of man taking picture of Pagoda in trunk!
BTW, very similar to a classic 190 SL shot. Interesting to see the evolution.
-
I only noticed the reflection after posting it. i'll work on it! hmmm.
rob
-
Not uncommon. It takes discipline to look around the viewfinder as if you are looking at the picture. Then you see self reflections, trees growing out of people's heads, unwanted visitors, etc.
Who is that guy right above the star? Happens to all of us.
-
Also, we do our best as amateurs with the conditions we have to work with. And, your picture is a very nice one, but you can see where the angle of the professional one of the 190 SL above gets rid of the self reflection and also shows the beauty of the dashboard.
Likewise, there is nothing like a professional setting to produce spectacular results. Light, reflection, background, etc., all in full control of the photographer. And this was the best of an 8 hour shoot! Not my car, beautiful pictures.
-
Rob and John,
thanks for posting these beautiful pictures.
But with the reminder that "de gustibus non est disputandum", I would like to state my preference for Rob's picture. I do like very much the reflection of the man on the trunk, especially since one cannot really see that he is holding a camera - perhaps he just shades his eyes to get a better look? To me he looks like a transfixed viewer ogling a beautiful subject.
The b/w 190SL picture I like too because it shows the essence of the car.
But I do not care much for the last of the three "professional" 190SL pix, it looks way too much like a shot of a model car and not a real one.
Some like to look at "botox beautified" faces and others prefer a Dorothy Lange face of the depression area.
As I said, "there's no accounting for taste". :)
-
Have I got a solution for you... Photoshop. Verb: to photoshop. Photoshopped. Methinks the professional shot also has liberal application of said tool, hence the sort of "airbrushed feel" to it. Bit like a Playboy model (disclaimer: I only read that magazine for the articles too). I too prefer lifelike...
Peter
(Note to unsuspecting well intentioned amateurs... judicious application of Photoshop is much harder than you think!)
-
Hi John
You seem to know your way round a camera . A lot of nice pics on your flickr site.
Me I need to get my new eyeglass prescription. I subscribe to the method of taking a mass number of digital pcs, deleting most and keep the best .
I recall seeing a similar pic on one of these sites some time ago. I went up my daughter balcony a week or so ago while my car was in the driveway and thought , that would be an interesting pic
I must say the thought of taking pics with semi hidden reflections in is looking rather interesting and challenging
all the best
rob

While I posted the professional pictures of the blue 190 SL for observation, I too, prefer more realistic shots. The blue pics have a surreal quality to them, as has been described in the posts following it, and it's a bit more difficult to "feel" the car. I'm sure Michael's work on our Pagoda book will offer more than an abundance of the type of pictures we tend to enjoy.
Here's an undoctored, natural picture of my '64 356C. Michael would critique that I lost the colors in the sky, and he would be right!
-
John - you might have lost the sky, but the reflection of the building on the side of the 356C is really cool!

How do you get all these pictures in less than 256KB?
-
Microsoft "Office" Picture Manager which is fairly standard with most computers allows you to shrink the size as a percentage. So I open the photo in Picture manager ---- Edit Pictures------Resize -------- My pics are generally 2000-3000 so pic 20 or 30% or so until its a smaller file and resave as a different name so you don't lose the original. Many other graphics programs will allow you to resize. Or also crop all the rubbish out of the pic and you will have a smaller file
good luck rob

Rob, you might want to try using your flash for these pics. It will help balance the light behind your car and lighten up your car facing the camera. Basically, any situation where the stronger light is in front of you. Take two of each shot, one with flash, one without and see which you like better.
-
john
My camera takes great pics with the flash when they are small subjects fairly close, but unfortunately my flash does not throw far enough to work with my car.
It seems if its a grey day or the sun is to high in the sky My pics are really dull.
Had a great drive today with my wife up the coast, but too early a start and a dull day at that, so dissapointed in the quality of the pics

Using the flash provides balance to the light behind the car where the camera is taking it's light reading from (brightest area). Try using the flash. It's not supposed to be obvious in the picture (reflectors are giveaway though).

next to another great bridge! Some great photo opportunities around there. Unfortunately when i'm around that part of the world, my rental car doesn,t look quite as good as that!

Rob,
You need two drivers and a cunning plan
-
looks like you have a bit of experience at it!
I figured a second car, open top. Bit of elevation would be nice though
rob
-
Bit like this then... take 2 Pagoda's. Two drivers, One photographer. Have him sit on rear lid (carefully). Drive, but slowly. Longer shutter time. Take photograph.
Ignore bald spots (there's three of them...)
Bob's your uncle.

I like your suggestions , unfortunately in this state , not only would the passenger cop a seatbelt ticket, but also the driver along with a few points. I like the remote view from the second car, I like to do a few in motion pics in interesting surrounds or backgrounds. But the elevated view behind the driver is also a interestingview. Peter it got me thinking instead of a tripod, a mono-pod with an adaptor to slip into the hole in the middle of the deck lid, a metre and half high with a remote shutter control. Hmmmm, I don't think the wife would be seen dead with me in the pagoda if I did so.
By the way, are any locals or interstaters going to the Sydney Concours this weekend? Or the Canberra Concours, and German Fest(all german Marquees will have a presence) the following weekend?
Rob
-
Rob, the same applies here.... that's why we took this photograph on a Sunday morning at 09:00 when a) the light was good, and b) statistically there are fewest cops around. Note that Cees was actually driving on the wrong side of the road.
Peter
-
I'd like a few action pics like that!
rob
-
In my case I actually had a passenger in the rear seat hanging out of the window to take the photos whilst havng a mobile phone on speaker talking to the driver of the chase car as to what and when. Agree Peter, Sunday mornings are always good for getting those "unusual" shots on bridges etc when there is little traffic and even less law!
Rob Unfortuately not going to Sydney or Canberra at this point.
Garry
-
Peter your criminal chap! I´d did some phonecalls to my colleagues in Hilversum district. They promised to watch out for you and your friend ;)
/Thomas
-
Took the Pagoda out to the Sydney Concourse. Unfortunately only on a display basis so relegated to the back row with nice group of other Pagodas in front.
Nice collection of 190's and an immaculate 300sl there to excite ones senses!
rob
-
Good showing, nice cars. But what's with the funny cowboy hats? For appropriate attire for driving Pagoda's I recommend the following film clip: "Two for the Road" here on our site... http://www.sl113.org/FilmExcerpts.html ;)
Peter
-
It was a hot day, end of winter ,30 plus, so hats were pretty popular. A lot of wide brim hats huh!Don't know how long they'd last driving a pagoda
My 12 yeAr old lasted till about noon in the sun, before the " when are we going"
rob
-
Peter,
Funny hats are a good thing down under, when you get here have Rob take you for a blast through central Aus in middle of summer with the top down, you might like to wear one too.
Rob, sorry I didn't see you there last Sunday, I am the one behind not in the wheel chair. Except for the tall guy in the middle of the attached image is of the current and five past presidents of MBC NSW. Second image needs no identification.
Peter, note we're all wearing something over our thin spots.
Geoff
-
Sure, I wear hats too to cover my bald spot. And I realize that especially in Australia that is very important. But wouldn't one of the following two hats not be a lot more appropriate in a classic Mercedes Benz than a Cowboy hat or indeed a baseball cap? :D
-
Peter,
are you related to the Corleones by chance? ;)
-
Sure... now pay me my protection fee or I'll get you another bald spot! >:(
-
Peter
I'm with you, I'd prefer a Panama hat or if I wanted to live dangerously possibly a fedora.
I should probably correct you in saying Australians tend not to where Cowboy hats in the American sense of Cowboy hats, or at least in the city here. I think that is reserved for Cadillac Eldorado ragtop owners with bull horns on their hood.
We like our Akubra and variations. who were first made by an Englishman in Tasmania
When the temps hit 35-45 celius, fashion isn't first priorty
Oh and geoff what's this about me taking Peter for a blast through central Oz, middle of summer with the top down. I haven't been there yet myself! I think you could fry an egg on the hood of a car out there
rob
rob

here's another hat spotted at the Canberra Concours
Oh and of course a great lineup of good looking Pagoda's

Couple more pics at the Canberra Concours

Not quite to forum topic or not - I just love the wide white walls on the 190 SLs! They are dandy!

Rob,
Our Blue Pagoda looking out toward San Francisco early morning of Sept 27 through the mouth of the Noosa River, Queensland, Australia
Treedoc
P.P.R. [Post Peter's Reply]
Yes Peter it is a strange morning sky, the grey band above the horizon is the remnents of the previous day's dust storm when 2 mm 's of Central Australia got blown eastward, it eventually gets dumped on New Zealand and it's our way of getting back at them for nearly allways beating us at Rugby.
-
I like the colour and mood of that shot! Well done!
Peter
-
Looks Great!
Good to see the Queensland Plate on it
Must get a few looks driving a LHD
The paintwork looks great. Look forward seeing one day.
Be good to see an early morning sunlight shot to better see the colour
I just spray all the red dust off my car. Even in the garage I got a bit of a layer on that Red Dawn
I thought it would have been an interesting photo opportunity, but was off to Rockhamton that day

Took my cousin from Canada out for a tour of the coast south of Sydney. Unfortunately had to put the lid back on with not so nice weather
She's a BMW girl who thinks Mercedes are for old people . I told her thats a crap line from page 2 of the BMW Salesmans guide. Her husband sells them, so very bad influence , ha, ha.!

Afte a rainy Christmas, back to the Hot Top Down Weather, for my friends in the norhern hemisphere I'll repeat that "the hot top down weather" Sorry couldn't help myself!
A few weeks of not driving my Pagoda is frustrating. just wondering when our snowbound friends frustration peaks?
cheers rob
-
Rob:
Some of us snow bound folks enjoy the Winter time off the road. Gives us a chance to recharge the batteries (ours, not the car's), to think about the past on-the-road season, plan for next season. We have a chance to work on the car inside a warm place with the time to do these Winter jobs correctly.
My car in New York City will be asleep for this entire month of January. I'm now busy with my other life, (I have one). A welcome break for me.
Regards to you and all in the Southern Hemi. Don't sweat too much. I'm going to play in the snow now.
Richard M, NYC

Hey Richard
I'm originally from a little north of you so don't miss the cold. Love the springtime there and I imagine new york would be quite the city to get around in an open top pagoda come spring.

Nice shoot of the "Sydney Coat Hanger" Rob, also noticed you finally put the hard top on.
-
Yes it's time for the Hardtop for winter, not quite as warm as you guys have it in Queensland ,and all the rain we have had this year I havent wanted to venture to far
Haven't had many picture opportunities of late. Going t have to have a "Pagoda picture safari" with grahame one of these weekends!

Had the weekend up in Newcastle, both my wifes and pagoda's hometown during their first 30 plus years. Horrible weather which cleared the foreshores of any other cars letting me get some pics of the Blue Pagoda by the sea all on it's lonesome. The wife put up with the Pagoda tragic I am taking pics in the rain

Vale Phil
Members, you may have noticed that Rob Marks hasn't posted anything on this thread for some time, sadly his eldest son Phil passed away not long after the image bellow was taken, which shows Phil photographing my Blue Pagoda.
Many Sundays Phil and his Dad Rob would set off before dawn to find new places around Sydney to shot their Blue Pagoda. Phil was a fine young 20 year old who anyone would be proud to call their son, he is sadly missed by all that knew him
I'm hopeful Rob and the rest of us will continue this thread as a tribute to Phil's input
Geoff Eldridge
-
That is awful news. My prayers go out to Rob and his family. This is one of my favorite threads -- obviously Phil was a gifted photographer and along with Rob have revealed just how beautiful our cars can be with Nature's backdrop. Thanks Geoff.
-
Thank you Geoff and James for your kind words along with the other members who have messaged me. I must say although I have not met many of the members of sl113 I have developed a cameraderie with many through this website that I have never met. One day I hope to catch up.
As Geoff mentioned I used to set out early looking for the next great photo opportuntity. My son Phillip James humoured his old man and would get up early and we'd set out looking for a new spot or more recently pursuing pics for other threAD "PAGODAS IN MOTION" www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=11451.0 where as the pasenger he would take the pics of geoff and Grahames Pagoda or jump into Grahames Pagoda and takes pics of mine. Grahame appropriately named this the "Pagoda Photo Safari" I recall setting off to Canberra German fest a couplre of years predawn with no roof and freezing our %&s off,got some great pics of other cars on the way back
Unfortunately most of my photos included the Pagoda and a fantastic location, not including myself or son Phillip James, I used to joke that I didn't want my mug or a hyundai or toyota spoiling the pic. and none of us together until Geoffs photo surfaced'. Attached are a few of my pics of Phillip James and our blue Pagoda. He is incredibly missed
While at the moment my pagoda remains parked, I struggle with the idea of taking it out, but continue to lurk in the background enjoying the writings of my felllow pagoda tragics here on sl113
Rob

Dear Rob,
I'm really sorry to hear of your loss and am pleased you've been able to post a set of photograhps of your son Phil for this thread. As a father of an 18 year old myself I can understand the void he leaves in your lives, but I cannot comprehend the magnitude of your loss.
I'm sorry for posting this late reply as I've been out of the country with limited access to the the Internet. I hope that the Pagoda event for the 50th birthday of the Pagoda's goes ahead in Australia and that I'll be able to meet up with you then in person!
My condolances,
Peter van Es
-
Hey Rob,
My best wishes to you and your family.
I am sorry to see your loss.
My heart goes out to you.
While I don't add much to the forum, I still view all the posts and particularly enjoy your wonderful photos.
I agree about the comraderie of the Pagoda group
Bob Smith, Brisbane.

As this thread has received such a degree of responses I hope you all will forgive me for wanting to see it continue, and a someone born and raised in this beautifull city when I get to revisit it I can't help taking the Harbour Ferry to Manly and back and giving the Cannon a work out
Hope these images will encourage Pagoda owners from other countries to join us in 2013 the cellerbrate the 50 aniversary of the Pagoda Launch
-
Geoff--tell us you are OK? All we hear about is the ravishing weather you are suffering...
-
Michael,
Thanks for your kind thoughts, yes we are all OK, we are well south and unaffected by the latest cyclone [typhoon] and also uneffected by the Brisbane Valley floods, have not heard of any 113's going under water down here.
All of our Benz's safely stowed undercover.
Below one more shot from you know where.
-
I'm even further south at Hanging Rock and we are getting the tail end with torrential rain. Had 5" over the last five hours and water is everywhere with flood warnings on a lot of the local creeks and rivers. Have had a major roof leak and carpet is/was being replaced next week if it will stop raining.
And I said that I probably would not need to mow for a while as the hot weather came in. Put a curse on myself.
We have a local any classic big car rally next weekend and I have a few mates staying over to attend. They had 2500 cars last year. Hope the rain stops by then.
-
As a Melbournian I can truly relate to all the comments about Sydney and I can fully appreciate the beautiful photos taken by Rob around Sydney and Newcastle (I spent a couple of weeks in Newcastle last year). As I sit here on a very very wet day and read the history of this thread my heart goes out to Rob. I have a 65 Porsche 912 that I spend hours driving (usually on Sunday mornings with my son) and I struggle to find words for Rob and his family..........
On a brighter note I've just bought a 230SL through the Classic Throttle Shop in Sydney. I've only driven it once and that was in Sydney on a test drive. I'm not sure if I fell in love with the car or the drive around the windy, hilly roads and the quick blast on the motorway! The 230SL is currently being "refreshed" and tidied up in Melbourne and I look forward to getting it the road. I'll post some photos in due course. The question is: What ill I do with the Porsche?

Hi Treedoc,
Does the note on the windscreen say Please do not touch?
:)

The posts with photos are those that I am often back to watch. Timeless experience. And the ones from dark blue Pagoda in Sidney are just great.
Hope that salty air in Sidney did not eat up that lovely one... ;D

Blue Pagoda's got a new Garage Mate coming soon, a Blue "Texan" 107 currently somewhere on the South Pacific
-
Mine is not that blue (dark I mean) still love it as well.
Nice photos in this thread ... love it :)

I like that blue, there seem to be no end of different blues. While both mine are blue they appear quite different. Look forward to seeing them together for a closer comparison

Sunday drive thru stanwell
-
Not by the sea, however, at Niagara Falls on the Canadian side (if you peak thru the trees you can see the American Falls in the last photo). It was a nice evening just before dusk, as I passed thru Niagara Falls on my way back home from Williamsburg, VA Sept. 17 last. I'm always amaised how the blue colour of my car changes in different light. After a nice dinner it was a nice night drive back home for the rest of a very enjoyable trip.
-
Hi Rolf
Know that road very well. Never had the privilege of seeing it via pagoda though, generally in a rental car. Like it a bit further along from Whirlpool to Niagara on the lake
.
cheers

Dusted off the Cobwebs, a beautiful Winters Day at Berowra Waters

Beautiful, nice to see you back, I note on Facebook you have been very busy.
-
Hi Rob,
This photo is not by the sea, however, at the airport where I parked the blue tornado in front of the Canadair CL-30/T-33 Silver Star ~ CT-133 Silver Star.
Turned out to be a funny picture ... almost as if the blue tornado is trying to give the CT-133 a lift (knowing you are in the business related to aircraft I know you enjoy this one) :)
-
Beautiful, nice to see you back, I note on Facebook you have been very busy.
Blue Pagoda hasn't seen as much sea of late!
Plenty on the work front. Need to find a few new spots by the Sea. Still looking forward to doing that Great Ocean Rd down your way one day

I quickly looked at thumbnail and saw the plane over the pagoda and thought how good is that timing! Oh its' permanently ther. Where is that? We could probably do a page of "Pagoda' next to big things thread
In Australia when you drive thru small towns the have "The Big " things like a giany banana, giant rock, sheep, or tennis racket etc etc, even a sunmarine in land Can't say I have parked the pagoda next to them but maybe!
-
Hi Rob,
We have it permanently displayed at the London, Ontario International Airport. Go to the link below and scroll down.
Here ------> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadair_CT-133_Silver_Star
As for big things, we have the same in Canada. Most small towns have some sort of BIG roadside attraction, one example from just one Province can be seen in the link below,
Here -----> http://www.roadsideattractions.ca/alberta.htm
Now back to the topic "Blue Pagoda by the sea" :)

After 16 years of restoration I brought my 230 home today!!

Looks stunning! 16 years is a long time but looks like the effort paid off. Enjoy your car and hope the weather remains as nice as it is in the photo so you can get in a few top down drives before those cold Michigan days set in.
John
PS Please post a few more pictures soon.

Thanks I will post some more in the photo gallery.

Looks fantastic. You seem to have similar color specs as my blue pagoda and interior. It's a dark midnight blue and depending how the light is sometimes will appear black? I like the white walls And the parch interior is a bright. Combination.
I hope your fall weather lasts as waiting 16 years I'm sure next spring can't come soon enough for you. Post some interior shots aswell
Cheers rob :)
-
Thanks paint code is 332 dark blue. I just posted more photos in the gallery but I am going to leave now for a drive and will get more pictures.

Fantastic, PM'd you on some details
Can't think of a better way to tour sydney and the Australian coast than in a Pagoda. Would be great to see your American Pagoda downunder! Plenty of postcard opportunities await you. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity of late to get the pagoda out there

A pagoda is always a beautiful site. Just got back last week from Toronto and visited in Dundas, and would have loved to site a pagoda or R107
Would love to see that car of yours with the falls in the background!

Would love to see that car of yours with the falls in the background!
Rob, while I love to take a photo with the falls in the background, the problem with that is twofold a) you just cannot stop to do it and b) it’s always wet in the area with spray from the falls. Traffic is very heavy as is tourist foot traffic. I guess early in the mornings like 5am one would have a chance to do it.
Cheers,
Dieter

But it would be a great photo Heh!
Might need a partner photographer in crime and slow that pagoda down driving thru at a crawl
That Lake erie mist though, hopefully not as corrosive as it may have been years ago
Yep my best photos are early morning without other cars in the pic
Just curious as to what they call the color of your pagoda

Well are we getting restless yet! Got my registration back in order at the RTA but The Blue Pagoda hasn't seen much sea of late

(E320 S124)

Hi Achim
Its a 190e Sportline. It has had a lorensir treatment in Japan when new and debadged of its sportline. It has that real nice Sportline Black leather interior, but unfortunately it's the 2 litre, but low mileage It belongs to my daughters better half James. He has some interesting plans for it i think I'm becoming a fan of the old "E"s in particular the 500e , the 320e and some of the CE's
Cheers Rob

Hi Gary
Yep need to blow the cob webs out of the pagoda. Bet your looking forward to the new rules, I hear the Golf is back on in Victoria, we have been allowed in 2's. Back before dark or same day? All these rules doing my head in
Stay at home rule , but your allowed 2 visitors, but I ask myself shouldn't those 2 allowed visitors stayed at home, but you can go out for food and shops, but how far away. I'm feeling like a hot dog 40km away in the heart of Sydney at Harry's Cafe de Wheels, and wanta drive my pagoda there, what do you think.
Oh so looking forward to getting back to normal
Enjoy that drive Gary
I have yet to take my car to Victoria, but that Great Ocean Road is certainly on my list cheers rob

Have treated Blue Pagoda's home floor with rustoleum
-
Rob,
I’ve been looking to do this to my new garage floor. Did you do it yourself? i has a horrendous quote to have it two pick epoxied.
Garry
-
Yep did it myself. Watched a few guys on youtube doing Rustoleum themselves. Best to learn from some of the disasters of others before you embark yourself. Someone doing it for a living would do a better job, but I'm happy with the result. I have matts for oil collection and for tyres, but have not had to use. It's looks shiny and wet, oil drips just wipe off easily and have not had issues with hot tyre pickup of the coating . Got it at Bunnings, Ending up throwing the paint chips in it for a granite like appearance, wish I threw more chips in it. The chips are smoke and mirrors that obsure any scratched or imperfections. Also put a clear top over top aswell. but it transform our storage area, look like you could eat off the floor
Message me if you want any more details
cheers rob

Nice, and your car looks very similar color extenal and interior, I think tthey refered to as parchment, it would be good to see the inside colors closer. fscanlon 's blue is another variation of blue, I realise in some lights hard to see
I alway liked that midnight blue that your and my pagoda share. In some lights people tell you have a black car. Looks like a nice day trip

Meeting up with other members and their cars is the best of times! If you're a Full Member, you can look here for fellow members near you. https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?action=mlist You can hopefully PM or email them and plan some local get-together of a few cars.
-
I have used the member search in the past, but haven't had much time to meet up with others locally. That would be a good idea though.
Fscanlon's car is a metallic blue. I am not sure what the color code is. He had it repainted from the original green it was when his grandmother owned the car.
My car is the original color 332 dark blue, my mom's favorite color, but of course it has been restored and repainted. The interior is 221 white grey and the carpet is creme. Here are a few pictures.
