Title: club recognition
Post by: n/a on February 18, 2003, 15:55:55
Can anyone fill us in on the progress being made with DaimlerChrysler for official W113 club recognition?  I haven't heard anything lately - it seems like a critical effort w.r.t. the success of the new club.

Perhaps the 190SL Group has some advice to share on that subject?

Hi Dorian - the reason you have not heard anything is that the group has not yet been formally launched, and the site is still in its final testing phase. On the formal recognition front, DC has decided to recognize only one club per country (existing clubs like the 190SL group are grandfathered in). Since we are not located in any one country, DC can not formally recognize us. However we met with them in Stuttgart and they are positive about what we are doing, so the future looks very bright. Anyway formal recognition is not an important "success factor" for us, we will meet the needs of W113 Pagoda owners anyway!

Nice to see you on our site by the way,
Cees

One of our goals is to reach between 3,000 to 5,000 members in a couple of years. Sometime during this time, I expect DC will realize there is reason for there being one model-specific club for every make-specific club in the classic-car enthusiast world. When that time comes, we will be firmly established as a club that serves the interests of its W113 Pagoda enthusiast members properly.

Very correct, expecially after seeing what kind of "thing" DC is currently recognizing here in Italy...
