Title: Long Shot...???
Post by: MikeSimon on March 27, 2023, 18:13:29
Here is a question, maybe a member from the UK can answer:
I just watched a BBC show "Death in Paradise" Season 11, Episode 2, "Double Bogey" about a murder on a golf course.
The president of the golf club, a lady, is shown driving a red convertible, which seems to be a vintage car. Would anybody know what it is? I could not identify it in the short scene.

Looks like a Sunbeam Tiger?

Possible. Although I thought it was larger than the Tiger. First thought of a Triumph Stag, but did not see the distinct pillar for the roll bar.
Was able to find a clip on line. Here it is. car appears at 30:44. Almost looks like a Peugeot

It looks like a Fiat 1500 Convertible, but unfortunately isn't.
This is the car you mean:

There is something wierd about that car -  Looks like a mix of a Fiat 124, Peugeot 404, and a Triumph TR5.

All great observations. Both the Fiat 1500/1600 and the Peugeot 404 convertibles were designed by Pininfarina and thus look rather similar. This car does resemble them but is neither one. The round headlights and their placement and shape of the grille are rather distinctive. Somewhere else in the episode, the lady sits in the car and drives away. I am pretty sure the car is real. As the show is a French/British co-production, I assume it is either a British or French model. Although the bad guys drive Audis, BMWs and MBs occasionally.

Agree, although in other photos I just googled of this Innocenti it looks a lot better than the red one in the photo above, that just seems 'off' somehow. I think it's that those are coupes, while this one is a spider.

It's certainly a pretty little car but I reckon the sills (rockers) should be painted very dark grey!

Innocenti Spider 1962

Innocenti rebodied BMC chassis and running gear (Mini and Sprite/Midget) for the Italian market, swapping Lucas for Marelli electrics in the process.

Love the four-door Citroën SM in the background!

Looks like it is a winner! Although some minor details are different. Maybe it is a model year difference

The chrome rim is the same as a Fiat, but not on the car from the movie.

Seems like this show (which is actually filmed on Guadeloupe!) features a nice selection of newer classics. One episode had a R107 in it and a few others shoed a great condition BMW 2002 tii
