Title: Museums in Germany
Post by: BOTIGER1970 on January 25, 2023, 23:43:14
I'm planning a trip to Germany at the end of February this year for a couple of weeks to visit family.  During my stay, I plan on visiting the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart.  I want to maximize my opportunities to see as much as possible during my visit concerning the Pagoda.  I am in the process of restoring my 1970 280SL and hoping to see other 280SLs that are as original as possible.  My question is; does anyone have any recommendations of other places with Pagodas to visit during my trip.  Thanks in advance.
Mark

In the Mercedes Benz Museum I saw only one Pagoda, where the with a crooked placed glove box.

What I did was visit places where they/display sell (restored) Pagoda:

•   BRABUS Germany: Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop,

What are you trying to see on these unrestored cars?  Even if a museum has what you're looking for, they may not allow you to get really close to the car.

Ask here for help.  Start a thread with an appropriate title, maybe like "Unrestored, Original 280SLs in/near North Carolina", say what you're trying to accomplish, and see what happens.  Maybe by the time you get back from Germany, you will have a few members/cars to visit!  Good luck.

How about the museum in Sinsheim? Does any of the German residents know if it is still in operation?

I would contact Mr. Stickel Pagodencenter and ask if you can visit. He always has pagodas in all restoration stations in his workshop.
Furthermore, he always exhibited some pagodas for sale.

You guys keep pointing him to restoration shops.  He's looking to find unrestored cars.

Thanks for all the recommendations.  Much appreciated.  I have taken my car completely apart and am just finishing up with the body panel replacements and welding.  I love visiting and talking to the different Pagoda experts and didn't want to miss out on any opportunities while in Germany.  I definitely will take advantage of a few of the recommendations.

Hi,
depending on where you stay in Germany you might meet German Pagoda owners.
Maybe you can ask for volunteers in the German Pagoda forum http://www.Pagodentreff.de.
There is also here a list of voluntary members, see Members/emergency contact list.
