1973 Volvo 1800 ES.  An ES just like the one pictured was my first new car, the 10th from the last one produced, in which I proposed to Lucy.  We called her the "Yellow Submarine."  I still have the shop manual in my library.  Occasionally I wake up from a dream that I'm going into the garage and find it parked next to the Pagoda...

Last year produced, 1963 300SL. Alloy engine, disc brakes, hard top/soft top, red on red. What can I say? I was young and needed the money!? The $4,700.00 I spent to buy it,  seemed extravagant back then (1974).

I love the P1800 in coupe and estate form, i nearly bought an estate a few years ago.  Have you seen the 3 million mile car?

Joe,  If you can't get the SL back, then at least bring that beard back again!

I met Irv at a Volvo Marque Club event many years ago, when his coupe only had about 1.6 million miles, long before Volvo did the gratis complete restoration for him.  I suspect that is why Volvo now owns the car.  He was just a regular guy, who found joy in getting into his coupe and seeing where the road led him.  Irv is the guy who first told me to "drive 'em 'til the road wears out!"  He did his best to do just that.

I must say that I regret selling nearly every car that I have parted ways with.  If I must pick just two, it would be my 1965 Volvo Amazon, the first new car I ever owned and the 190SL which I enjoyed in Italy, France and the USA in the 1970s and 80s.

Nice looking Amazon.  I had a 66 2 door that was in really rough shape and had been painted mat black, including all the chrome.  It looked very cool and it was a blast to drive.  I remember it fondly and always check any that I see up for auction wondering if I should get another one.

I am not repeating myself from the other thread. I have to agree with Ralph, though. As I have always bought cars "through the stomach" and not "through the brain" I regret selling almost all of them
