Title: Rubber Trunk Mat - Early 230SL
Post by: Brandini on November 19, 2022, 15:26:27
Does anyone know where you can purchase a rubber trunk mat for models with a vertical spare tire? I've searched the web and looked through the forums but unfortunately not able to identify any sellers. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - I did see that one but doesn't seem worth the asking price - it is after all, a rubber mat. I've noticed that about authenticclassics.com...everything is heavily marked up so I tend to purchase elsewhere.

I've bought from them before and found them less expensive than other sellers for a lot of items, even with postage charges to the UK and taxes.  I think the mat is a case of supply and demand, at the moment they look like the only supplier.  There's a discount voucher for them in the suppliers list, i think 10%

Somewhat cheaper at SLS:

It appears the later trunk mat is also being priced at quite an elevated level!

Niemoller also shows them, but with a "request price/availability" note

Have you tried the M-B Classic Center?  I purchased one while on sale about a year ago.  Honestly though, I don’t use it.  I had a carpet set by GAHH that I use routinely since it has better air circulation and really looks much nicer.  Not for a purist.

At one time MB Classic Center had none, in fact MB worldwide did not have any. But as demand levels rise on certain parts, MB will re-manufacture the part. This is must have happened in this case. When the original old stock mats were no longer available, I would tell Pagoda owners to protect their mats for future use and carpet the boot area.

I emailed the MB Classic center but received notice that they are no longer available unfortunately. Your trunk mat looks great though! I may look at GAHH or Coco mats to have one made.

Thank you - I've emailed Niemoeller for price availability.

If you choose to go the route of a covering rather than the rubber mat, I would highly recommend coco mats. I have their floor mats in each of my cars and they are top quality.

I had a 211 wagon, and they did a custom mat for the back (I sent them a brown paper pattern), which fit perfectly.

Good to know..I think I'm going to go with Coco Mats for the trunk. Just an FYI for those that need to order mats...if you sign up for their newsletter they will send you a 15% coupon for their cyber Monday sale.
