Wondering what events are being planned next year for the 60th anniversary. I’m in California and am in the initial stages of planning a get together in Carmel during Monterey car week next August, with a drive to Big Sur along Highway 1. Hopefully some of you can join me.

That sounds like a fun trip. I’m sure there’s a couple of Cal members who’d help you out with planning/organising. We sort of had a rhythm going of “even” years, Europe did an event, and “odd” years was a US based get together: PUB etc, but that got thrown off a bit by the pandemic.
I know in Europe there’s a 60th get together with the German clubs - as we did in Willingen in 2013 - but that’s all I know of.

I understand that the German Pagoda group (Mercedes-Benz SL Club Pagode eV), who hold an annual rally throughout Germany will hold next year's event in Nuremberg. I've not yet been to one of their events so as next year is the Pagoda's 60th I hope to drive over to Germany for this rally.

The dates for the Pagoda Rally in Nuremberg are 10-13 August 2023.

In the current issue (#41, Winter 2022) that just arrived of Classic Mercedes magazine, page 7, there’s a short mention of “Pagoda party”. SLShop of Stratford will host at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey. This would be in celebration of the 60th anniversary.
They mention that due to the success of their R107 gathering in 2021, this may be one of the biggest Pagoda gatherings ever.
Does anyone know Sam Bailey of the SLShop? He said they would be working with international clubs etc. to ensure a global success.
I don’t believe our group here has heard anything official about this.
Any of our UK members want to work with them?

Yes, most likely the MB UK Club magazine does not have the latest details
on the Annual SL Club Jahrestreffen - 60th Anniversary of the Pagoda in Nuremberg (= Nürnberg) taking place between 10-13 Aug 2023,
but it is definitely going to take place. Ask me how I know .... ??? ???
The invitation for the registration to the anniversary Club event (together with the Pagoda SL Group and the Pagodentreff.de - very similar to what it was in 2013) is going to be presented here soon.

Hi James, if you're interested in attending with the MB Club, contact Michael Smith (details in the Gazette) to let him know you're interested and he will then send you details when he receives them. This is what I have done as I am determined to attend this one.

Could do as we did the 50th, have at different locations around world as well as here in USA. Have an east coast, middle America, and a West coast event.

I hope your get together last year went well. Do you have any interest in organizing a casual west coast Pagoda Gathering this summer? Could be as simple as purposefully joining in as a group in a Cars & Coffee. Maybe make your own Pagoda Parking Lot Party event near a nice restaurant. Or, organize a drive & dine.
