Hello,
I know this may be a long-shot, but if someone would have the original M130.983 engine for my ‘71 280SL, I would very much like to buy it. ;D
The engine number is: 130983-12-016092
It was removed from the car, while it was located in the US or Canada. It was replaced with a M130.980 engine, most likely in connection with the restoration of the car, many years ago. So it may either be in storage somewhere, or alternatively it has been restored and installed in another car.
Please also let me know, if you have any good tips of how to locate it, if at all possible.
Best wishes and thanks,
Christian

I'm sure you realize the third option is that the engine was recycled and no longer exists ...
P.s. did you check the registry to see if your engine number is listed there?

True, and that is most likely what has happened, since the previous owner did not choose to renovate the original engine.
So, it is definitely a long-shot! ;)

Hello Christian
I have acquired an inheritance in my Family of about 30 MERCEDES Engines from the 60ies and have still few M130.983 engines. I have also few M130 engines without any stamps on the Motorbock. And I purchased with this engines also to the set the original Mercedes Benz stamps to stamp the replacement engines.
My Motorenbauer can make for your car the replacement engines like you wish. If you are interested please contact me by Whats App 00 49 172 36 36 693, so that I can send you some photos and videos.
Best regards
Sebastian

Nice, the original stamps! I have never seen a authentic set of number stamps.
