Title: wheel well color
Post by: John Betsch - "SADIE" on July 18, 2022, 23:17:35
I could not find any annotation in the Tech Manual, but just to confirm: wheel wells are painted in body color?

My car, originally being a daily driven Germany car, the entire bottom and wheel well is sprayed with an thick black rubbery undercoat.  (I am not sure if this was standard Germany practice but would be interested if anyone knows.)

If it is to be body color I suppose I could spray the wheel well undercoat in the proper body color? Opinions?  Of course the undercoat in the wheel well is very "bumpy"

comments?

Yes, wheel wells und underbody are in body color. The „rock protection“ was sprayed first. The color after. The rocker panels were painted black (dark grey) You find a lot of info about that here.

In Germany due to the climate, rain, snow and salt, is was very common to spray the underbody’s with an undercoat or add additional undercoating as the car aged.
