Hi everyone,
Restoration continues! I already installed LED bulbs into my heater lever assemblies but nothing lights up yet. Examining the wiring, I note that the driver's side has a hookup to a wiring plug while the right-hand one doesn't (see the blue lines). However, there are two wires connecting the two, as indicated with the circled area. Does anyone know if this is the usual setup, or has something been previously modified?
Thanks, as always--
Bill :)

Hi,
a lot of information to read: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=35128.msg256913#msg256913.

The same rheostat that dims your other instrument lights also regulates the heater control lights. Check to see if the lights work in the other instruments first.

This a picture I made some time ago.

Normally your assembly will have only one provision for a plug. Most likely someone previously changed to two plug units. This should not be the problem.

Mine looks the same as above. I was under the impression that the black housing is the same for both sides but only one side connected?

My 64 230 has same. This is early version.

Thank you, all! Most reassuring and helpful. :)

On an early 230sl (mine has a pair of prongs) I think the supply goes to one and then power is supplied from the 2nd pair to the lighter

Here is how it's on my car:

This is my setup

I don't think the cigarette lighter ,which is a high power user, should be connected to any lighting circuit, it could well burnout the rheostat for the instrument lights.
Keep well

Hey Paul you're correct, cigarette lighter power comes straight off the ignition. The 2nd pair of connectors on my heater control must be spare....
Also it's 1.5 gauge according to the circuit diagram. Thanks, not sure why I forgot to consult the circuit diagram!!!
