Title: Grille Gap on sides
Post by: Duncan200 on March 12, 2022, 01:59:52
Hi All,

Been hunting around using the search on the forum and I can’t seem to find an answer to my question.

Upon fitting up my new OE grille to the car before paint, I’ve noticed quite a gap on both sides. It’s like the grille needs to be bent around to meet the body. See pics attached

Everywhere else on the grille fits well.

Note, I’ve also fitted a new nose cone, but before I start filling up the sides, I just wondered if anyone could post pics of their grille meeting up with the body on the sides?

Thanks in advance Doug

Doug,

I sent you an email with some photos, but will also add that after getting the grill to sit as close to the curved shape as possible, you may need to do some body build modifications as it appears that the crease above at the corners is not quite correct to the grill.

Thanks for the reply Garry, looks like a genuine nose still needs work for the grille to fit it.

Forgot to ask Garry, did you send your pics to my work email? If so, our server is down.

Any chance you can reply to my personal email I sent the pics with?

Thanks

Correct and original grill fitting is like a second skin. Amazing how well these cars were made back then. Fit and finish was far better than one would imagine or expect.
