On the data card for my 66 230sl box #22, which is often labeled Scheibenwischer (windscield wiper), it is not labeled as such. Instead it has no label as the other boxes do, but it does include what looks like 110. I have searched the internet and only found one German site which states that since Bosch was the only supplier of wipers that box was left unlabeled and instead Mercedes used that box for additional option codes. That same website indicated that (110.) referred to MB-LEDER TWIN which my research leads me to believe means twin leather where the seats were real leather and the rest was MB Tex. I have not been able to find option code 110 on any other lists. Is anyone able to confirm or contradict that information?

Most interesting. I have a copy of the options list the German group put together some years ago, and it has a listing for 000 - steuerungs code fuer die fahrzeugproduktion translated to control code for vehicle production.
The first code after that is 200 for antifreeze.
Can you post a scan of the portion of the data card you are asking about?

When I look again it looks like a capital H as in box #20 and a small number 0 as in the box above. I have no clue as to what that could mean.(http://)

Curious myself - battery brand?
Would be good to see the full card probably... does not look exactly like one of the versions we have in Tech Manual... Also the back side, as fields are sometimes explained on the back side.

Thanks for your reply. The card I have is a copy supplied by the dealer when I purchased the car. I do not have a copy of the back side.
I was thinking of ordering a copy of the card from Mercedes. Would they provide the back side as well? My understanding is that they send poor quality prints of data cards on film, which is probably what I have. I think it's probably worth the $150 to get one from Mercedes. I think I will do that, and send you a copy as soon as I get it.

What you received from the dealer is all you get from Mercedes.
Of course, as you wish, just curious why - if you cover key codes.
Anyway, I thought it might have been battery brand, "Ho." for Hoppecke, but it is a wild guess. You would need to look and say if there is another field for battery brand and if it is filled. If there is - then it is not "Ho.for Hoppecke in field 22.

Hi John, I recreate full sets of data cards from the poor photocopy the Mercedes provide. I have recreated hundreds of data cards
and I can say for sure that there are many different styles of data card, far more than are shown in the Tech Manual. The 230SL alone
went through about 6 different styles. Slight changes where made to the size of boxes and the box number referencing.
Box 22 Scheibenwischer was either left blank or filled in with “Bosch”
Box 22 labelled Scheibenwischer no longer appears from Mid-1966. The box is just #22 and is larger in size. From 1967 there is no box #22
just an empty box. It is in this empty box that a vast variety of letters have been printed for example ST, K, R, H, P, Stp, F, c, 2, S, g, Ho,
D, Sch, J, Q, es, m, n.
Unfortunatly I do not know what these letters relate to. On the 280SL data card these letters would appear at the end of box #19 (Tires)
Your data card simply shows “Ho.“ in the empty box.
Box #20 shows the Tire manufacturer, in your case Phönix

On my card box #9 is labeled Batterie, and it says Varta

So I guess no way to get copy of back of card?

Please ask alpinaltd. He is the best equipped to find the back side to your data card and re-create the entire datacard set in the original formats for you to print. A lot of us requested his services, which are brilliant.
Ok, if you have another field dedicated to battery and it says Varta - my theory does not hold, I am afraid.

I am by no means an expert like some others here, but here is a copy of the back of my data card - 1971 280SL Euro
It shows listings for fields 20-23 that do not appear on the front. Box 22 relates to owner info and is the residence.

Mike, mine has similar back side (1970 Euro), but then we do not have filed 22 on the front side, I think (front enclosed).
