Our Admin sent out an email blast this morning (Eastern US Time).
143 orders have come in since opening.
114 invoices have been sent out, and this will continue through the weekend.

If you have ordered, and clicked "SEND" you will get an immediate "thank you for your submission", and that means we received the order.
Please be patient after your order, as it takes some time to hand-generate the PayPal invoices. 220 orders have come in as of Sunday afternoon, and I'm working on the invoices; I'm up to #140
Do not create another order, it only slows me down. After you place an order, a second or duplicate order is cancelled, and I'll send a query to you to find out what you want to do. If you change your mind, I'll cancel an invoice. If you change the quantity, let me know, but please don't sent another order in.
This is a slow, manual process and your patience is needed and appreciated.

All invoices for all orders placed as of now (09:40 EDT 22-September) have been sent out.
Most have been paid. A number are not paid yet. PayPal keeps us informed of all activity related to the invoices. Of those not yet paid, most have not yet been viewed. As soon as you view the invoice, we're notified. Reminders will go out on Friday.
Thank you for those that included their phone number for SMS/Text; there were actually a number of issues that came up and my ability to contact these people was helpful and fast.
If you think you placed an order and have not received an invoice, double check your inbox and spam folders. The invoice comes from PayPal.
Note that once the item ships for USA members you'll get a ship notification from PayPal with the tracking information on it.

Just a reminder that the HARD STOP on orders is as previously noted, October 8. If you don't order by then, you may not be able to get a copy of the book; we won't revisit any leftovers or deal with any requests until after January 1, 2022.
Our "Google Forms" order form is working exceedingly well. A few have seemingly had issues with it, but that's a very small number. Some accidental duplicate orders have come in and they've been dealt with.
Our PayPal invoicing is working well, as usual: most people get the invoice and pay it. For certain we'll have a few issues on that as time goes on, but most invoices are paid. Reminders will go out this weekend, by text message as well as email. The usual issue is people do not get or see their emails...thus getting the invoice can be a challenge.
We're at the point where we are "caught up" on invoicing. 260 orders in so far.

Hard stop on orders on October 8; as standard we will print a few extras, but if you don't order in advance (pre-order) you'll have to wait until January to get one.

Final email blasts (one for Associate members on Friday, the other for full paid members early today) went out.
This morning, final notes will be going out to those who requested the book, were sent an invoice, but the invoice was not paid.
Invoices unpaid as of 8-October will be cancelled. Books will not be ordered for these cancelled invoices, regardless of whether you requested it or not.
The book order will go to the printer on Monday, October 11.

Recently the first 10 issues of our Pagoda World magazine were compiled into book form. Really useful for newer members who were not around way back when.

YES. The email blasts go to to the ASSOCIATE MEMBERS list, as of the day that the Admin makes the blast, and the same holds true for FULL MEMBERS. Doesn't matter if you ordered or not. It's a reminder.
If you filled out the order form, and clicked send, you immediately received a FORM SUBMITTED notification.
If that happened, you received a PayPal invoice.
If you received the PayPal invoice, and paid it, you are good to go.
Some people provided incorrect email addresses, so may not have received the PayPal invoice. I cut and paste what YOU provide. If the shipping address is wrong, or your email address is wrong, I have a hard time trying to sort it out. USA addresses are always verified. If you have an old address on PayPal, it may be an issue. Caught a few of those already...
98% of all orders are filled out correctly, and PayPal goes out correctly and are paid promptly. It's the 2%...
We also have a number of people that seemingly forgot they ordered; forgot they paid, and ordered again. All by mistake. Those were easy catches...

Now comes the "why are you wasting the time of volunteers" part, I'm afraid. Eighteen of the 355 invoices sent out up until yesterday have not been paid. I've come across a myriad of issues including incorrect email addresses sent (seriously? seriously...) mismatches between certain addresses in violation of international finance rules, you name it. Unfortunately, these remaining invoices will take a lot of time to deal with. Everyone has received a PayPal invoice according to information YOU provided to us. I'm going through all the unpaid invoices today, and sending personal notes as opposed to ones from PayPal, which may contain erroneous information. I'm providing one more shot to pay the invoice for the book that you requested. If you made a request for a book, and did NOT receive an invoice, contact me immediately. All the requests are on a Google form, and all invoices for same are in the club's PayPal account.
Invoices not paid by close of business EASTERN TIME USA on Friday, October 8 will be cancelled and books not ordered to fulfill these requests. We're not holding up the progress and process for unpaid invoices, we're just cancelling them and moving on.
We MAY have some leftover books (we do order some extra but not a lot) but these will not be considered for sale until 2022.

There SHOULD be no taxes...
Books for EU will be sent "in bulk" (one package, maybe two) to our friend and member David Robinson in Ireland. Ireland is in EU of course.
Books for all the other EU countries will be dispatched out of Ireland, so these are EU-EU shipments.
We did NOT pay any taxes or customs duties on the import to Ireland of any significance; books and magazines get away "cheap".
So, if you order a book, it isn't shipped directly from USA-->Portugal, but rather Ireland-->Portugal or EU-->EU. There should be no additional taxes once the books arrives at your home.
Maybe our friends in Netherlands, Spain, Germany, etc. who received Volume #1 can tell us if they paid any additional taxes?

Same for the UK. Bulk to me then shipped locally via Royal Mail. Not sure what happened to those I shipped to Sth Africa, for example. But in my experience, printed matter doesn’t get taxed.

Just three of the older invoices remain unpaid. There are five others, four of which were sent today, and one yesterday.
The order form will not accept any more orders after 5 PM Eastern time on Friday.
So far 370 orders. A great showing.
We've arranged even more streamlined shipping than the last issue...so things should go quick.

We're within a day of closing out the ordering. As of now, we have 376 orders. Tomorrow afternoon the ordering will be closed out.
Unpaid invoices more than a week old will be cancelled. As I write this, only four remain unpaid of invoices sent today and yesterday; will give them a day to process! Three older ones are not paid. Of those three, two have received the invoices, opened them a while ago, received reminders, but still have not paid. One person has not opened the invoice, and has not responded to emails. Unless paid, I'm afraid, these will be cancelled tomorrow afternoon.
Next steps:
We'll be tallying all the orders over the weekend.
Print order goes in so that the printer has it at start of business on Monday October 11.
Production will take approximately two weeks.
Packaging is identical, though a slightly different size: each book is in a custom box, and the box in a poly bubble mailer.
USA shipments will dispatch out of the Raleigh, NC area, hopefully all in short order after printing.
All international shipments will be consolidated out of Davidson, NC like last time, and sent to four international locations: Ireland for EU, Canada for Canada, UK for UK, and Australia for Australia and PacRim.
Once again, looking like a successful project!

FYI people…
No sooner was ordering shut down last Friday, something that was announced well in advance, both in postings here and in the email blasts, when additional inquiries start coming in.
Of course we—me in particular—are experienced in this and make accommodations. We did order a few extras.
But…were all the announcements and posts here as well as emails sent to full AND associate members insufficient communication?

Just an update:
The printer is mostly done with the printing. There are still some more to print, than trimming, finishing and packaging. The USA ones will begin to ship later next week.
The non-USA ones will come to me and be repackaged for shipment to the four destinations we used in the past: Canada, UK, Ireland for EU, and Australia for Pacific area.

NONE have shipped yet. The labels are being printed, and the USA books will actually get in the mail on Thursday and Friday. Label printing is a laborious process, they cannot all be done at once.
You get a note from PayPal upon the label creation.

All the USA shipping labels have been printed and sent to the printer.
AlexD will be sending out the books for USA destinations on Friday. If the 282 USA designated books can't all get out on Friday, the majority will and the rest will be dropped in the mail on Saturday.
As soon as I get the rest of them, they'll be dispatched for non-USA delivery and I'll update everyone here.

For those that have something to say about the US Postal Service...
We used the Media Mail class of service, heavily discounted and thus is noted as a 7-10 day delivery. su8pack1, in Barto, PA, is over 400 miles and 7+ hours drive from Morrisville, NC where his book was dropped in the mail on Thursday afternoon just before the last pickup at 5PM. So, less than 48 hours from Post Office to delivery at his door. For $4.45. I'd say that's pretty astounding. With the last go around, with over 350 Books in the USA, they all made it safe and sound. I'm expecting no less with Volume II.
I'd say thank you next time you see someone working for the post office.
My goal is to trans-ship all the non-USA ones next week. They are due to get to me by Tuesday, and I'll endeavor to have them on their way to their first stops in London, Toronto, Australia and Ireland by Thursday or Friday.

Len, I'm as astounded as you are. That's Priority Mail speed (or faster!) for "Dollar Store" pricing. I think this may have had something to do with precisely where they were "dropped" into the system. Thursday's were dropped in Morrisville, NC. I believe Friday's were in a main postal service center (in the Raleigh-Durham NC area); that generally saves a day of shipping, as all mail from the local PO's must end up at a regional service center anyway. If you take it directly there, you speed the process along. Clearly something worked correctly!
While I appreciate the mention of my name, understand this was a team effort with a number of people each playing key roles. The very last bit: ensuring the packages were "right and ready" and labeling them, and then ensuring they got into the USPS system, was AlexD. I will pass along the compliments to the printer. As someone who has spent a long time in and around the printing industry, I too, am very pleased with their overall manufacturing of the book. They have done a great job at a fair price and are as much a part of this effort as our team members.

Without the magazine, there's no book which is [merely] all the magazines bound together. The members make the articles and content, the articles and content make the magazine, and the magazines make up the books.

Got mine in Virginia today. I didn't expect anything more than a convenient compilation of Pagoda World. It's much more. It's seven and one-half years of Pagoda celebration spread over 300-plus glossy pages. The printing is phenomenal. The photographs, especially, look like they have all been enhanced. I will now be looking for a future opportunity to spend way-too-much for Volume I.

I didn't expect anything more than a convenient compilation of Pagoda World. It's much more. It's seven and one-half years of Pagoda celebration spread over 300-plus glossy pages. The printing is phenomenal. The photographs, especially, look like they have all been enhanced.
I've been in the printing business for decades and our printer, Southport Graphics in Morrisville, NC had indeed done an amazing job on this, very impressed myself. Some of the earlier editions of the magazine itself were not printed as well as the current ones are, and our vendor for that, The Hartley Press of Jacksonville, FL is also doing a great job on the magazine.
The quality of the print is merely people at the printer knowing what they are doing, using excellent equipment and doing their job exceedingly well.
I told everyone, once we were reviewing the proof copy, that this would be bigger and better than Volume I!!
Let's not forget the content...we had great material to work with! ;)

I received my book on Tuesday. I have to say, it is nothing short of brilliant. For someone like me, who joined fairly recently (2017? or so) and who did not get the early versions, this is invaluable.
But besides this, the sheer quality of the book is outstanding. I am a member on a couple of other specialized web-sites/forums that have "club" magazines, but nothing comes even close.
Kudos to all who put that together, made the magazine possible to begin with and organized this reprint.

Logistics Update: AlexD picked up the non-USA books at the printer this morning, Friday, and drove them about ¾ of the way to me. We unloaded his car, loaded up mine, and now they are in my car here. They'll be repackaged for the four destinations of Australia, Canada, Ireland and UK for dispatch worldwide shortly, and I expect to have them on the way no later than Monday.

Mine was in my mountain of mail when I returned from four months in Italy Tuesday night. I couldn’t resist a quick thumb through ahead of sorting through the rest of the pile. The quality is just fantastic and the organizational effort by Michael, Alex and the many other volunteers to efficiently deliver the book on such a tight program is commendable!

All the international books are on the way to their four destinations: Canada, Australia, Ireland and UK, for further dispatch to the four corners of the globe.
The packages will begin arriving by the middle of next week. Our members and trusted assistant volunteers in this trans-shipping effort will then begin to post them.

Nice thought, Pawel, but hardly accurate I'm afraid.
What the team involved (it's not just me) has done is navigate a system of issues to come up with a viable, workable and least-costly, best practices program of PROCESSES, which includes selected vendors (such as printing, shipping, packaging materials, etc.). So in that respect, yes, we can do another sales project of anything without having to research what the best way of doing it is. This has been honed now with the badge project of 2018, and the two book projects of this year.
While that's a big part of it, it's only processes. There's still a lot of physical work involved on the part of the team. The physical work was mostly AlexD and myself getting to this point. The hundreds of pounds of international books were carried by Alex to me, then I re-packed them for the final mile to the four international destinations. At that point the international team will take over and label them all and then transport them to their local PO.
There were easier and less physical ways of doing it for sure. But it might have made the book cost $150...

Yes, all the Aussie/PacRim books have been in the mail (as you can see from the occasional note here), as well as all the Canadian and UK.
Right now, like literally this moment--I'm preparing all the labels for the EU shipments. These will fly through the cloud to David Robinson in Ireland, and by the weekend I suspect that his conscripted children will help him get all of these to the smiling lady behind the AnPost counter at his local post office...
We did send one extra book to each international location in the event that a latecomer wants a book. We do have a small number here in the USA as well.

Sorry, many of our Canadian members. I've been receiving numerous messages like this from Canada Post:
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we may not be able to deliver your parcel within our standard delivery times. We’ll deliver it as soon as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience."
This is probably NOT for those in Ontario unless you are in outlying areas. However, if you provided a valid email address that you check, you should be getting the same messages. It is apparently out of the control of those who control it (which makes not a whit of sense) but surely there's not much we can do about it. Hoping it gets resolved from Atlantic to Pacific and your book parcel is delivered soon.

Just got word from "Team Robinson" that all the EU packages (every country but USA, Canada, UK and Australasia) have been dropped into the AnPost (Ireland Post) system.
So, with most USA, Canada, UK and Australasia/PacRim books either delivered or fast on the way, now every book is on the way for the "last mile" of shipment...

My copy arrived today in Sweden, greate Christmas present.
