Title: Cabin fan clean up and repairs
Post by: cfm65@me.com on August 19, 2021, 09:24:28
Hi Guys,
I am in the process of cleaning the vent and fresh air system of my Pagoda. I have the fan unit on the bench but for the life of me, I cant figure out how to remove the two plastic fans.
Any assistance will be much appreciated.

I did this job a while back. You will need a very long but small mm size Allen head wrench and in my case it had to have the "wobble" feature at the end. By wobble feature, it had to be able to go in at a slight angle.

I have several sets of metric Allen wrenches and yet had to buy another set to get the length, small size and wobble needed. I'm sorry that I didn't make a record of the Allen wrench size but it was definitely metric and I'm thinking maybe 2 or 2.5 mm but I don't recall for sure.

One of the Allen grubs wouldn't budge and I ended up destroying the fan wheel. Its made of Bakelite and very brittle. If you have trouble loosening one of the grubs I would suggest soaking it in something - maybe PB Blaster. I wish I had. It was a costly mistake.

Good luck.

Tks Lee,
Yes, it is a slightly longer, 2.5mm allen key required to undo the fan wheels. I bought one this morning, stripped and cleaned the fan housing and reassembled it again.
I will try to have the heat exchanger cleaned and pressure tested on Monday.
Thanks for you assistance guys. Much appreciated.
Take care.
