Title: Oil pickup clearance M127
Post by: MarkCan on July 18, 2021, 23:43:20
Today I button up the bottom of the engine, or so I thought I would.
With everything in place I noticed the lack of proper clearance between the oil pickup and the bottom pan. Pickup looks to be at least 1/8 to tall or the pan which is brand new is to shallow. What’s the factory clearance there?

I got the new pan from Pelican

according to the part number from the manual.

How does the depth of the pan compare to the original one? Did you change the oil pump also?

Original lower pan was damaged when I got it. There was double gasket on one side and a pound of sealer on the other. Oil pump tower was cracked and stuck in the block solid.
By researching the numbers I came up with the w111 220se. Pump housing has 1801800103 number on it. It is a perfect match for the new M130 tower though as well as the gears. Tower height is given and constant. It all lines up properly. Now I’m thinking, whoever worked on this sometime ago put the wrong pickup on the pump (correct for the 220) and than attempted to compensate with the extra seal.
I’ll search some more tomorrow.

Good morning everyone,
Going through some related posts and pics here, I noticed several types of the pump enclosure and oil pickup style. The latest version looks to be much more on the horizontal plane. See attached pic,
I would gladly purchase one to test the fit. Please let me know if you have one.
Otherwise I may cut my own pickup and shorten it by about 1/2inch (exact distance yet to be determined)

I took another pic from the same angle as the one above to better showcase the difference.

I’m still looking for that oil pump pickup.
I got US address for shipping so there is no hassle for anyone.
Please help me out here.

Mark,
PM me after the first when I get home from work.  I have an M130 pump in storage in my garage.  Pickup is your's if it will work for you.  What is the height of your existing pickup?

I took some more measurements this morning;
Bottom of the oil pump (with oil pickup removed) is extending the assembly 20mm pass the bottom of the oil pan.
With the oil pickup installed the distance goes to 82mm.
Oil pickup hight 77mm, straight line hight ( 74mm pic due to camera angle)
Bottom oil pan (black) inside depth is 79mm.
