Title: What is the ‘rivet’ used on ‘floating’ bar on soft top
Post by: Merc_Girl on June 22, 2021, 09:31:28
Hi folks

So, back to re-assembling the soft top frame, after giving it all a good clean

There is a metal bar that sits between the windscreen and the first ‘fixed’ bar, which is only attached to the strapping.

To me it looked like a rivet, almost like you have as a ‘popper’, but the other side was flat. I’ve been told it is a rivet nut, but looking at these they have a ‘hole’, going all the way through, which mine didn’t have

Is anyone able to advise please?

Many thanks

Katie

It sounds like you are referring to a closed end pop rivet.  They must have wanted a more finished look from the bottom.
