Before I admit defeat and fork out for a replacement part, has anyone found an ingenious way to keep an ignition trim ring (that has broken tabs) securely in place?
I have already bought a replacement rubber gasket which I thought would fix my issue. When trying to refit the trim ring one of the delicate tabs broke off... Leaving me with a lone remaining tab.
Any suggestions welcomed, tempted to break out the double-sided tape!

You could try adhesive caulk behind the trim ring. That is what I am going try if the ring I ordered two weeks ago doesn’t come through.

These trims rings were available for only a few $ a couple years ago from mbclassics.de I think about €12 maybe.
I bought a couple for both cars just in case I break them removing them for dash paint.
If he doesn’t show it on his site for your year car, just send a note. He is very responsive.
Buy other items you need to make shipping worthwhile. No TVA/VAT (usually) when MBClassics sends to USA.

I could not find them on parts list for some reason...
They are there available at SLS.
