Title: Door catch replacement
Post by: mauro12 on April 30, 2021, 18:01:53
Hi guys , I noticed that my door catch have some play , especially in the passenger side but there is not any difficulties to close or open the doors . I found on sls shop that they have on stock and it’s available for my 250sl earlier version . My concern is to buy and replace now that it’s still available and relatively inexpensive. Is it difficult to replace ? Do you have to make some adjustments or is only 3 screws and put the new one ?
I noticed also that is the passenger side I have something similar to a thickness pad.
Have you ever done this job before ?
Thank you

I was doing the adjustment work as well as removal of the catch for some cosmetic work. It is about undoing the holding screws. The nuts hold on the other side, at least they should be. Make sure you mark the position of the catch before you remove it if it is adjusted correctly. I would buy a thin marker, like the one you used to write on CDs to mark the position.

So it is just to remove the 3 screws that hold the catch and put the new one on right ? No adjustment are required ?

I removed and adjusted mine a couple weeks ago.  If I can do it, anyone can.

Is it possible to save and repair the old catch or is better and faster to buy the new ones ? I saw for sale on sls shop the right catch for my 250sl early version .
