Title: Trunk Lock Piece
Post by: DavidAPease on April 13, 2021, 02:11:02
I need the L-shaped metal part that attaches to the back of the trunk lock (circled in photo).  This part does not appear to have its own part number, but I thought someone might have a spare one (with or without the screw that holds it in place) lying around somewhere.

         Thanks,

A piece of metal from the hardware store, a vice, a hacksaw, a drill and a hammer should do nicely!

Thanks, Mike.  That is my fallback plan.  However, I wasn't sure if this piece has some kind of alignment "tenon" to fit the slot in the back of the lock, and fabricating that might be a little challenging for someone who's not a metalworker.  Thought I'd try the easy way first.   ;)

As I expected, there are tabs on the back of the piece to keep it aligned with the lock barrel.  As someone with little metalworking skill or equipment, I might have a bit of difficultly with those.

Hello David,

The W110/W111 fintail sedan should have the same L-shaped piece.

Sometimes its best to buy a very bad old (sedan or SL's) lock. This part usually never deteriorates...

Best,
Achim
