Title: wheel bearings
Post by: mauro12 on April 10, 2021, 22:04:46
Hi everyone, since im going to replace the disc brakes and pads, I was wondering that maybe could be a good idea to replace the wheel bearings too. I've looked around , especially from mbclassic.de where I usually buy and I have located the front wheel bearings , kit from febi bilstein I guess but I haven't been able to find the correct rear wheel bearings for my car. Are there any specific types or are they all the same? is it an easy job that is worth to do since you remove the discs?
In addition to that I was thinking about the best source for discs and pads and I've found ate parts. They are considered oem but I was thinking if its worth to try and buy directly from mercedes dealer or its just a waste of money.
thank you

Mauro,
A good reference for understanding the wheel bearings is below.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy most brake or bearings items from the dealership. Way to expensive for the same parts usually. But I would buy quality parts. SKF, FAG, ATE, Bielstein.......

I tend to repack wheel bearings if they look serviceable. I always replace grease seals when replacing rotors.

Is it an easy job to do ? Maybe more difficult in the rear axle to replace the bearings ?
I was thinking to buy at least genuine mercedes brake pads if they Are not too expensive.
Genuine mercedes discs are coated or not ?
