Title: Help With Ponton Data Card Please!
Post by: Pawel66 on February 17, 2021, 22:47:02
I have a kind request regarding Ponton 220SE Data card. alipnaltd has done a terrific job (as usual) on my Ponton data card decoding all the blurry letters. It appeared that my data card was composed of two pieces, so he split them nicely.

I wanted to kindly ask those Ponton experienced and those German speaking Members to take a look at words and abbreviations - if they make sense. Please kindly suggest corrections.

My second question is about the upholstery of this car. I understand it was MB tex, non perforated. I cannot find the colour. I have no idea what is said there about the carpets potentially.

What is STR. T. 826?

What is: DB 631 557 Ristelhueber Hbg.? Looks like address in Hamburg :)

Please help!

I am enclosing the "original" in pdf and the recreated ones.

In field "5", the letters "Nr" are missing behind Fahrgestell-

The NY address on the "Lieferschein" should say "Fa" instead of "Da". I guess it is a typo, even on the original.

Ristelhueber may have been a Hamburg MB dealer that facilitated the transatlantic shipment.

Mike, thank you for your kind attention! I found forwarders company under this name, but not in Hamburg. I will follow up on this as it may be some clue and it may be logical.

Any idea about the STR abbreviations? Any carpet descriptions?

Hi Pawel,
my 2 cents:
- Ausstattung 44/1: front bumper with guards - US-version
- DB 631: first aid kit/box
- 557: ??? Maybe option code for transport, logistics and customs; maybe a zip code for a former branch office of Ristelhueber (they had several in Germany); maybe a typo 55/1: steering wheel ivory-colored
- Ristelhueber Hbg.: company for transport, logistics and customs in Hamburg
(company history: "1950-1984: In 1950, Ernst Zügel was the owner of the business, which is based in local and long-distance transport, warehousing, rail transport and customs clearance.")
- upholstery:
Tex 1074 n. perf.: MB-Tex colour 1074, medium red, not perforated
  Str. T. 826: ?

Maybe you can find more here: http://www.mbzponton.org/

Fantastic! Thank you so much!

We will decode it piece by piece. I had a hunch on this logistics company....

Since it is MB Tex (sort of reversed Sonderpolsterung) maybe this time I will make it tan or cognac leather as the car was dark green.

Will look for carpet info.

I will check the steering wheel.

Pawel:

You may find this interesting to have. It is a small book I picked up in a bookstore in Germany several years ago. It deals with the Ponton models and their history. It doesn't have detailed option descriptions, but a lot of nice images and other tech specs. mostly compiled from contemporary sales literature. Maybe you can still get it somehow.
