Title: W11X Door rubber
Post by: col320ce on December 13, 2020, 07:58:26
I'm just about to put the rubber on the door... It didn't have any when I got it.
There is metal in the rubber on the bit at the frond of the doors. I assume this part screws on with chrome oval head screws? My rubber does not have holes in it so I want to check before I drill/push a screw through it. Looks like the rest glues on.

I learn something new everyday on my W111. I didn't ever notice, but yes, there are sheet screws holding the top front part of the door seal to the door. See attached. Looks to be (5) screws per side and all just below the vent window. Second attached is the screw. It is a 3.9mm x 13mm Pan Head Phillips drive in yellow zinc.

BTW, coming soon are parts for W111 two cars and others - the roller kit for the rear qtr. is done (Authentic, Millers and Bud's Benz) and the rubber drive coupling for early power windows is almost complete. The final part is a way to rebuild the early type power window switches. I'll post something on this when it gets closer.

Thanks Wallace!
I started the old girl up and drove her on the weekend... First time since buying her and putting her on the hoist in April.
Still need to install the carpet/seats etc but some of the wrong interior was sent so im playing the waiting game on that.
Can't wait to see some more photos of yours!
BTW.. All my windows are manually operated so I couldn't chime in on your window rebuild.

That is exciting and I hope everything went well.

I might be wrong, but this appears to be about the most active site for W111 cars. We all learn from each other and when one takes on a task. I try to take pictures as I go along because you never know when they will be handy. I still have a ways to go on mine - paint and body, new weather-stripping, install new interior and finally front suspension and engine freshening. Then I will be done....maybe.

I agree... And I've literally got hundreds of photos too.
The drive went really well... Such a nice car to cruise around in.
When this is done I need to do the same to the pagoda but there's a lot more work getting the body work sorted (no rust but plenty of dints).
