I'm putting 6 cars through the Historics auction at Ascot, UK on 27th November.
Members of this forum might like to know that two of those cars are UK delivered RHD 113. One is a 1967 250; an abandoned project that I bought several years ago and the other is a 1969 280 that is all original and has never been molested. The 280 in particular is expected to be very popular with bidders.
I have harboured the notion that I might get around to doing the work myself but several years have passed since I acquired them and they are no nearer the front of the queue now than they were then.

It looks like the Automobilia items are auctioned on 11/27 and the cars on 11/28. I didn't see your cars in the auction catalog for 11/28.

Catalogue not complete yet.

And there's the rub. Here in the UK it's nigh on impossible to find technically competent staff or even apprentices who are truly dedicated and enthusiastic. It's been the case for years and that, along with the fantastic property prices in London preventing expansion, has been a constant thorn in my side.

Ah - maybe our friend Pawel can find a few qualified Polish candidates to send your way ...

He could but they can't afford to live there...

I think they are already there. Thousands of young people after technical schools and a couple of years of practice to learn the profession are scattered around Europe. UK may be scary now because of Brexit. The best ones are gone. You can imagine what is happening here...
I think this profession is suffering like many others these days - finding young, willing to learn young people is more and more difficult, for any job. They just want a lot of money and a good work-life balance...

Now postponed to 11th December.

You have a very atmospheric barn!
Seems to me the 250 is better value at the guide - the black panels being replacements?

Some anonymous body shop took 10K from the previous owner, spent most of it on genuine Mercedes wings, flitches & quarters and then made a mess of trying to fit them. That's when the project was abandoned. A job that's been in my queue for several years and had almost made it to the front until more pressing needs intervened. :(

Hello Colin,
So sad to see them go - especially the 280.

Yes, the 280 is the absolute perfect resto candidate having never been messed with before. All the original details are there.
-
Hope you are able to keep one of your Pagodas to drive off into the sunset with !
Best wishes

Good Luck with the sale Colin! Should make some room in your shop. Hope you keep one of the Pagodas for yourself.

I see a couple of your cars, including the 280, have “regretfully withdrawn”.
Hopefully that’s good for you

It is indeed James. I get to restore the 280 after all!
For general interest:
The 6.3 I have going in there started first time after not starting for a least a decade!
Being an Australian car it needs very little in the way of welding and someone will get a very easy restoration job. I'm sad to be parting with it and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will at least return for the work.

Good result on the 280, well done.
Congrats

Looks like another good result Stick

Assume the 6.3 beat your expectations too
