Maybe this time not direct a nice Pagoda, but so looks the new heart for each Pagoda.
In this case for a 250SL .
-
I thought it was the heater core. :o
-
True story, the core is buried Deep!
-
The heart of each Pagoda can be found behind the steering wheel , most of the times. Sometimes under the car, with a tool in his hands or bending over into the engine compartment.
Without that, the car would just be a pile of metal, plastic and rubber.

Ha SEB,
This looks very nice.
I see you are in a very nice restauration.
Success!

Very difficult to decide Sebastian what qualifies as the heart on our Pagoda ~s~
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
reminds me of a joke I heard some time ago ... it goes like this ...
Conversation between the nose, the mouth and the a...hole on a BMW driver
The Nose said, I'm the most important item here without me you guys are nothing.
The Mouth responds, Ha Ha, rest asured I'm the most important one here without me you all starve to death.
The A... Hole after laughing for a streatch responds "You guys have that all wrong, I'm by far the most important one I assure you! If I stop working you are all done for"

Back to the topic at hand, while we can fix most items on the road or a local garage I think the gas pump is the most important component on our Pagoda. Unless you carry a spare you prety much will be taking a plane, train or a rental car home and wait for a replacement to arrive.
Your engine looks fantastic Sebastian, cant wait to hear you report that you got everything back together and have no parts leftover ~smile~

Going back to Seb's original claim, that the engine is the heart. I would propose that the engine is more the muscle. The fuel pump could qualify as the heart, supplying the muscle with its fuel. After all, the animal heart also is a pump.
(But then what about the other circulatory pumps: the water and oil pumps? And without an ECU, where do we find the Pagoda brain?)
-
Well..... the heart has to be "ignition". Yes..... 3-in-1. Spark--fuel--air.
I am enjoying all the comments.
-
I submit that the brain is the 3D ring in the FIP that the stylus reads to deliver the right amount of fuel in each situation. Does anyone second the motion?
-
Perhaps the "Stearing Wheel" is the heart ... without it our Pagoda would only see the road on a Flatbead Truck.
Then the Stearing wheel has never ever let any of us down (not that I'm aware of).
I stick with the Fuel Pumps (primary and secondary).

I submit the driver behind the steering wheel is the brain. Without him/her the pagoda is in a vegetative state😳😳😳😳
