It is interesting that this section has become pretty active on this site. I remember when it was first created and no one knew how it would turn out. I just looked at the stats and the W11X section is #6 out 19 sections (top third) on SL113 as far as posts. I think it is clear that many people who have W113 cars, also have other collectible Mercedes and value this section. Thanks to all who created it and hopefully adds to the great information base that the SL113 has built.

I agree. I check this forum most days and the people on it are fantastic. Especially vendors who effectively give away their knowledge for free.
I would also urge people to register and use the fintail.org forum too. It's usually quiet over there which is a shame and they have some very knowledgeable posters too.

Since they are running on the same software platform, perhaps they should join us... I can technically take over all their content easily ;-)

Due to the many synergies with the cars, and the fact that many posters probably have several cars, I think it's a good idea but I know that some "Pagoda" owners get a bit grumpy about opening up the forum. We might even get kicked off here if the W11X section starts to choke the unread topics!

As an ex-W113 owner and current W111 owner, I would love to have just one place to go to for advice and knowledge. The constant "Now where did I see this?" is driving me bonkers.

I am not (yet?) a W111 owner, although I have been an admirer for a very long time, but as a newbie W113 owner and forum member, I have nothing against having them join our group, as I believe these cars embody many of the same ‘values’ (esthetical, mechanical, spirit, etc.) and therefore their owners probably have many of the same traits and philosophy about owning beautiful, well made, sophisticated objects, etc. etc. Not mentioning the fact that, although the parts may be different, the commonalities in technology are many. Of course, I have no idea what a merger or acquisition ( ;)) means in terms of finance, organization, change in group dynamics, etc.

My intent for this post of course was not to bring in another forum, but agree it could be beneficial for both W113 and W111 owners. This site has BY FAR the best management of a forum that I have ever experienced. It is hard to find fault with it. That fact, coupled and the very knowledgeable and courteous people, make this a very desirable place to be. We just want to keep it that way!
I also belong to the Fintail site but agree I come here first. There would just need to be some basic ground rules as to where to post like has been observed in the W11X section for many years. Yes these models have enough in common for everybody to benefit. Both are mechanically similar and both are desirable cars. Therefore, it attracts a similar clientele so to speak. I think one of the keys to success is having similarities.

I love this section too!
If you look at many posters signatures they have multiple cars. And given how similar the cars all are I'm glad it is all in one place.
