Title: Hand wheel of passenger's seat
Post by: FredToms on June 24, 2020, 21:41:05
Hi all,
the hand wheel of the passenger's seat of my 1964  230 sl is broken. I'm looking for the items (wheel and cap, reasonable price-under 80 $) to replace it.  Do you know where I could find it ?
Many Thanks

Not sure if this is what you want.  This might be the cover only.

Also check out sls who have both parts but you are not going to get one at $80, maybe a second hand one.

Just note that the hand wheel advertised on authentic classics & Pelican will not fit on early 230SLs unless you use a conversion kit that I think authentic sells.

SLS has the correct handwheel versions for early 230Sls up to VIN 002926, and a separate version for VINs 002927 thru to 012466. Later 230SLs (VIN 012467 -->) /250/280SLs use the handwheel as listed by Authentic Classics & Pelican

That is late style. The poster is looking for early style wheel.

Thanks for all your posts. The vin is 006xxx. But no item seems to be the good one because the center hole of mine is round  and not square and hold in place with a rivet.

Could you take pictures of the good one that you have? There may be some modifications done on your early setup.

May be the hand wheel of the driver's seat  is not the same in my car.
This is the picture of the shaft which is round on the end.

Take a picture of your driver's side rod please. Early 230SL had square end with corresponding square roller end.

If your passenger side is different then there is a chance you have something really rare (original or custom).
