Title: Captured nuts in firewall
Post by: FresnoBob on March 19, 2020, 02:15:11
MBZ doesn't sell the firewall captured nuts that hold the throttle linkage bar and radiator expansion tank.  Does anyone know a source for these?

I think they are the same as the firewall penetration of the steering column.  6mm?  If those are NLA I have about 100 6mm ones at home from another project.  You can have some after I get back April 1.

I have bought many cage nuts for similar applications from the Classic Center. I think they are also called cage nuts and are pretty common. Looking at the new EPC, I find #000 990 22 91 for the cage nut that holds the throttle bracket to the firewall. I bet Classic Center has that and Authentic has it as well.

Hope that helps.

Sadly, these are no longer available from Classic or Mercedes.  However, it looks like you have plenty of help here getting what you need.  :)

Is it not a standard item that you can buy/order in most internet hardware stores?

Thanks Urban. I buy a lot of metric fasteners from Belmetric, but didn't know they had these.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I found them at my local Fastenal store.  I had no idea these were also used for IT rack applications, which makes them very common.
