Title: Clutch pedal coil spring adjustment, what’s going on ?

Trying to set the spring length to 40.5mm as per spec however when fully compressed I cannot get it to less than 55mm ? Is 40.5mm correct ?, have I got a longer spring ? It does have 10 coils and diagrams I have seen show 8 ? I hope there is a simple answer, thanks in advance guys .
