Title: M129 Auxiliary shaft removal? (w111 coupe)
Post by: Westbournia1970 on October 05, 2019, 10:46:24
Hi Guys

I am new on this forum but I am hoping somebody might be able to help me. I have completely stripped my engine for rebuilding but I can't seem to work out how to remove the auxiliary shaft that drives the fuel injection. The brass/bronze bush/bearing has two flat sides and look like it would be turned by a special Mercedes Benz tool. I can see exploded diagrams indicate the shaft is withdrawn through the larger end that attaches to the Fuel injection. I am trying to be very careful with It!

Thanks

You have to remove the sprocket from the shaft on the front of the engine first.  Afterward, you'll see a 6x1.0 bolt with a 10mm hexagonal head on it with a washer that holds the bushing and the shaft in.  The washer is what sits in one of the flat edges of the bushing to keep it from spinning around. Once the bolt is removed the assembly will slid out.  You may have to use a dead blow hammer to knock the bushing out of the block from the rear due to carbon build up on the rear side of the bushing that is exposed to oil and crankcase vapors.
