Gentlemen,
I have been driving with my defective brake booster disconnected but have been warned by a wise members that it was dangerous.
So I am seeking a rebuilt booster. Bud's Benz was recommended, but they tell me they have none in stock, but can rebuild mine for $650. with a 3 week turnaround.
I loathe to take my baby blue out of service for 3 to 4 weeks by removing the booster and mailing to Buds for a rebuild and then a return.
Does anyone know who has rebuilts in stock?
Alternatively, I have a broken brake booster from a 230 SL I could ship to Buds for rebuild and I could then still drive the car while the rebuild gets done.
The $ 64 dollar question is the brake booster the same between a 230 SL and a late model 250 SL ?
Any advise would be appreciated.
thanks,
jz

Thank you Mr. Head, but they are out of stock at both locations.
Could anyone say if the 230 sl booster and the 250 sl booster is the same unit ?

I have used "Power Brake Exchange" (pwrbrake.com) for my early Mercedes Booster rebuilds. A lot less than Bud's.
I have been sending to the San Jose location Check with them. You will need to send yours in for them to work on it.

Right. Just send yours in

PWbrake in southern cal did mine in a couple days. Cheap and it works.

Zak, The boosters for 230, 250, up to early 280sl’s are the same. Just be sure to protect the bakelite neck during shipping. They are easily broken and replacements are not available.

Thank you Tyler. Will do.
Now I just have to find the darn thing!
