Title: PagodaFest - Pagoda Run Ride Sharing
Post by: PagodaFest2019 on July 04, 2019, 18:33:39
As we get closer to PagodaFest, we are starting to get inquiries about finding ride sharing opportunities for the Pagoda Run.  Both Pagodas and Non Pagodas are welcome to participate in the Pagoda Run. We are creating this thread to help facilitate match ups for people to ride share.  It's much more fun to drive in a group  :D  Some people might even have 4 seat rent-a-cars.

If you have an extra seat(s) in your pagoda or non pagoda or looking to bum a ride this is the place to let it be known.

Or you could go to www.pagodamingle.com  (Just kidding  ;D ;D ;D)

Hi, All PagodaFest Attendees,

I will be driving my Daily Driver (SL63 AMG) to San Diego for the PagodaFest. Unfortunately, I shall be leaving my Pagoda at home for 2 reasons. A) I expect I will encounter the need for my airconditioning and B) I may run into snow on my way back home. Yes, I know my DD has a great appetite for Petrol, then at my age, I am no longer concerned with that.

It would be nice if someone is driving solo in his/her Pagoda and has a passenger seat to spare for the Pagoda Poker Run. I would very much appreciate this and would provide navigation help as well as sharing the fuel costs during the Pagoda Poker Run.

If not, then I shall take my daily driver.

Thank you!

Dieter

During the PagodaRun you will be dealing with SoCal traffic. We highly recommend/encourage anyone driving solo to find a partner. You will be on unfamiliar roads.

Trying to drive and navigate is a risky business.

I do agree, I will have to rely on my GPS unless someone comes forward (those that fly into LA or San Diego), to take my Daily Driver passenger seat and be my Navigator. I did have someone to share my SL 63 AMG with me from Holland, unfortunately he had to cancel due to personal reasons.

So my passenger seat is open, unless I get an offer to be a Navigator for a Pagoda Member during the Pagoda / Pocker Run.

While GPS will ultimately get you to our Pagoda Run checkpoints,  it may not be the official Pagoda Run course.

For instance, the first leg will a beautiful drive down the coast line.  If you relied on GPS it most likely will tell you to take the Hwy 5 freeway.  🤣

I'm sure you will find a navigator or some one will let them join their group.

I'm flying in from Colorado and will be driving a rental car for the weekend.  Would be happy to be a navigator if someone needs one, and share fuel costs as well.  I used to live in San Diego and Carlsbad so I'm familiar with the area (although it has grown a lot since I last lived there).
Thanks,

Hi Fred,

If no Pagoda Driver offers you a lift then it would be great if you can join me. I would pick you up from your Hotel and you can leave your car at the Hotel (unless you are staying at the Event Hotel), this would save you the $18-/day parking fee at the Event Hotel. Riding in my SL63 AMG will be fun also :)

Let me know,

Dieter

Dieter,
Thanks for the offer of a ride and also picking up at my hotel!  So far no one else has contacted me.  I'm staying at a different hotel but it is very close by the event hotel.  I'll look for you prior to the rally to meet in person and finalize plans.

Fred

I’m flying down and staying at a nearby hotel.   If anyone would like a navigator in their passenger seat, please PM me.

Rolf -  both my wife and my 27 year old son will be attending with me. My son will be driving down from Washington State with me, my wife will fly in Thursday night. She will be my co-pilot for the Pagoda Run, my son is looking for a passenger seat with someone such as yourself. Is yours still open?

Hallo Reinhold, up to this point in time Fred has the seat. Let us see if anyone else offers a seat in a Pagoda, since both Fred and I are looking for a Pagoda passenger seat. Should Fred find one and I none then i’ll be happy to offer your son the seat. Let us see what developed between now and October 3rd.

Keep an eye on this tread for I will post the final outcome/arrangement here.

Hi
I will be flying in, but would be interested in either being co-pilot, or offering up seats in my 4 seater rental car for the Poker run.

Hi
Unfortunately, due to an illness in the family my wife cannot join me to the Pagodafest. This opens up the co-pilot seat.
Let me know if somebody is interested.
Thanks, Urban

Hi Urban, I contacted Reinhold, he is still looking for a seat, perhaps you can also PM him or contact him tomorrow or Friday to be your navigator. I’m sure he will enjoy it.

I offered Fred my passenger seat.

Best and safe travels.

Anyone want to play “Hot Pagoda”? Navigators that are not part of a couple have to switch cars at the checkpoints. That aught to make things interesting.🤣 Would be a good opportunity to meet new people and ride in different cars.
