A few expensive caps have been lost due to incorrect refitting.

A couple of years ago (3-4 years) I ordered the filler cap from MB dealer made to fit my car key code. It was just a bit more expensive.

Post by: specracer on June 30, 2019, 21:10:25: I have recently learned a bunch about these. The cap pictured can NOT be keyed to the ignition. If you look very carefully at the cylinder the tumbler is offset to the side. This uses a single sided tumbler / key. An OEM cap the cylinder / key slot will be centered to accept the double sided ignition key. The centered key slot / cylinder, is the only one that can be re keyed to the ignition key.
