Title: Pagoda specialists in Scotland/North of England ?
Post by: Por911t4 on May 07, 2019, 07:34:58
Being a long term Porsche guy having just moved into the Pagoda would
I like a marque expert to examine my car for me . Is anyone aware of any Pagoda specialists in Scotland / North of England ? I don't want to take it to any Mercedes indpendant specialist - I want a person knowledgeable in Pagodas . The alternative is having to trailer it 100's of miles to the South Of England … which if I need to do I'll do it, but would rather not.

This question is a long shot I know …

Thanks , Barry  (Glasgow, Scotland)

Welcome to the forum and I hope that you very much enjoy Pagoda ownership.

I have found Merparts in Port Glasgow to be first class. Merparts carried out extensive work on a 1969 280SL which I owned for a while. They also looked after my 1966 230SL before I retired her to France.

Best regards
Andrew

Don't be alarmed by Merpart's premises. Paul and Stefano are excellent Mercedes mechanics and you will have to go no further to obtain any expert help you need to keep your car running as it left the factory. They are both involved in the M-B Club and know exactly how these cars should be. As I occasionally drive my 230SL up and down to the South of France, I had the Getrag 5 speed 'box fitted. Paul now refers to my car as Frankenstein's Monster.

You have acquired a fantastic car. I assume Mike's family provided you with a copy of James Taylor's book featuring your car. I also think that there were a number of articles in the M-B Club magazine over the years. Unfortunately, I don't have the back copies as Mrs T operates a zero tolerance policy in relation to motoring memorabilia. However, if you join the M-B Club you will be able to search the archives.

Enjoy your new car. Let's hope that you soon get some decent weather to enjoy it.

Best regards
Andrew

Delayed reply …. car booked in with Merc Parts for 25th June. I don't know them and while trying to instigate chat (to establish they are comfortable with the Pagoda) they didn't seem to keen to talk :-( so im going purely on your good feedback !

Thanks
