Title: 1969 280SL engine block with pistons and oil pan for sale - SOLD
Post by: Audiophile on February 16, 2019, 19:28:28
1969 280SL engine block with pistons, flywheel and oil pan for sale.  Engine had about 50,000 miles when removed from the car.  The engine came from the original owner of the 1969 280SL who lived in LA.  He loved that car and was intending to keep it forever.  His cousin owned Hollywood Mercedes Benz in the late 1960's and as a result he bought many replacement parts to have on hand.  Including new block, heads, uncut hood, grill and many other parts.  When the car had about 50,000 he decided to replace the engine (just because he had the parts).  He ultimately had an injury and hurt his back.  Over time he ended up in a wheel chair and sold his manual 1969 280SL.  I discovered this man in Utah when I bought from him a NOS metric speedometer for my 1970 280SL.  I ended up buying all his spare parts and shipped them to Minnesota.  I sold my 280SL and therefore have no need for these parts including NOS cylinder head with valves springs and camshaft, interior parts etc.

I am willing to sell the block reasonably but need guidance in how to ship.  $1,000 plus shipping.

I use a pallet and then use All - Round strapping to fasten it down. Some old carpet or cardboard between the strapping and the block is a good idea.

Best to put a price on your parts or you'll be hearing from the moderators on this site.

Are you selling the cylinder head? If yes, I would be interested. What is the casting number?
