Unbelievable what they are absolutely unafraid to ask for such a gear box.

Those were half the price ex-factory (i.e. Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen) when they were new a few years back. ???

I purchased one for my 280 and it was 7800 Euro.

They were free for all to order back then; I remember posting a "last call" here on the Forum, in 2011.

Unless your car originally came w/a 5-speed, and it's missing, I would rather opt for this, which is cheaper:
