This would probably be fairly rare now ,as most probably got lost,
destroyed, etc,.
The PO, left it in glove box for me, and it is very heavy and thick,
so ,although i have a good working Becker in my 65,pleased to have this.

It's interesting that your 230 came with a radio blank out plate when your car has a radio and antennae hole in fender.
Correct me if I am wrong my learned friends, but didn't blank out plates only come with cars with no radio and antennae set up?

Hi Zak, yes i think you are probably correct,.
Here is the scoop, the lady that owned my 65, fitted a cd player and Rockford Fosgate amp in 1998
Stevens Creek CA at a cost of $1050,
When i got it ,i fitted a Becker into the dash , and moved the CD player to un der dash,left amp where it is,
hooked up both antennas to both Becker and cd player,,yes just spliced into the one antenna.
love the Becker because it is user friendly,so easy to use with out taking your eyes off the road.
But i can also listen to fabulous 4 specker sound from the SD player.That small piece of carpet to hide
cd player,came with Kinder seat that this car also has ,but not fitted.

I thought all vehicles were supplied with the blanking plate but could be optioned for radio thus wired etc for but with out the radio that was fitted by the dealer. He should then have put the blanking plate in the glove box together with the service books and owners manual etc. Not sure if some earlier cars had them fitted on the production line.

I ordered my car with Becker Grand Prix (option code 519) and it was installed at the factory. February 1969 delivery. I did not get a blanking plate.

Interesting that fitted in factory did not give you the blanking plate. My 230 was a Tourist Delivery with radio and the blanking plate was with it when i purchased it. My 69 also had a blanking plate in the glove box when i got it. Again i have assumed that they were each given one as both were in the colour of the vehicle and both had Becker radios installed.

Gary, if I understood your earlier post, you felt that all radios were installed by the dealer and not by the factory except for some earlier cars possibly.
My point was that at least some later cars had radios installed at the factory. Additionally, at least in my case, no blanking plate was provided.
I am sure that dealers installed radios. Perhaps dealers ordered cars with no radios for their " floor stock" so that individuals buying from stock could select the radio of their choice or no radio. In this case I would not expect their data card to indicate a radio. If an individual ordered a car through a dealer for local delivery with a particular radio specified among his other specific requirements, I would assume the radio would have been installed at the factory and the appropriate option code for that radio would be reflected on the data card. I could be wrong, but I doubt MB would show an item on the data card that was not factory installed.
