Title: Amelia Island Concours - 2018
Post by: Jonny B on March 01, 2018, 23:26:51
To those that are attending the Amelia Island event, Alex Djuric and his 250 SL will be at the Cars and Coffee event. He is also going to be taking some photos for Pagoda World, so here's your chance!

If you are going, post a note and I can put you in touch with the person that does the design work for Pagoda World. He can assist with local information. I would prefer to not publish his direct contact information on the general forum.

And don't forget, our past President, Ray Hays is also out there and knows the area.

Happy car watching!

I'll be tied up producing video production for the Concours all three days but I'll try to dash out to Cars & Coffee for a few minutes.  I hope to see you there.  If you spot a thin guy with a grey beard, wearing a blazer striding by at speed, flag me down.  Sunday, we'll be the guys with the cameras at the awards tent.  Sadly, all that equipment means I can't drive my Pagoda but I'll be looking forward to seeing Alex's again.

Look for some of our footage when Wayne Carini's Chasing Classic Cars covers The Amelia.

The show has been moved to Saturday because of the rain forecast for Sunday, the auction schedules have been tweaked as well.

Cars & Coffee at the Concours

Presented by Heacock Classic Insurance
Saturday, March 10, 2018

Unlike Sunday’s main event that is limited to a select group of vehicles with unique historical significance specifically chosen to tell a thoughtfully-scripted story, Saturday’s Cars & Coffee at the Concours features a diverse group of vehicles that celebrate the automotive-enthusiast’s spirit. Proud owners of beautiful collectible and exotic vehicles awake early, shine up their prized automobiles, drive to The Golf Club at Amelia Island and gather with like-minded enthusiasts on the first, tenth, and eighteenth fairways for a cup or two of fresh coffee.

Although every entrant must go through an application process, showing a collectible car costs nothing and the event is free to the public from 9am to 1pm. The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance views Cars & Coffee at the Concours as a gift to the community, a family-friendly “thank you” for supporting the event and making the award-winning show, now in its 23rd year, a reality.

I received the following message from MBCA this afternoon:

THE AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS
d'ELEGANCE MOVES TO SATURDAY
MARCH 10, 2018 DUE TO INCLEMENT
WEATHER

Even in the best-case scenario, the forecast for Sunday’s scheduled Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance includes rain and lots of it. With a strong chance of heavy precipitation forecast for Sunday and a sunshine-filled Saturday in the mix, The Amelia Concours team has moved Sunday’s Concours to Saturday.

The Concours show will coincide with Saturday’s Cars & Coffee at the Concours.

The Concours will coincide with Saturday's Cars & Coffee. The Cars & Coffee areas will be free entry. The Concours show will have normal ticket entry on the main field.

If you were displaying your car during Cars & Coffee, additional information and details will be forthcoming in a separate message. Also, The Southern Stars Saturday lunch has been canceled.

Finally, MBUSA has gifted MBCA members with limited access to the MBUSA pavilion. This means that two MBCA members can access the MBUSA tent at one given time. With this, members are encouraged to be sensitive to all MBCA attendees by spending limited time in pavilion – maximum 30 minutes. To gain access, please show your membership card at the entrance. If no other members are currently spending time in the area, you will be granted access.

We look forward to seeing you despite the challenges that the weather may throw at us.

Best,
Mercedes-Benz Club of America

Looking at the auction sales at GoodingCo.com for this past Amelia Island weekend and W113 sales were all lower than forecast. Even the 300SL's were lower than I have seen in recent years.

Just Curious - is that fintail parked ahead of Alex the same color combination as Alex's Pagoda?

The May- June issue of MBCA magazine, The Star, includes a two page article covering MBCA participation in the Cars and Coffee event at Amelia Island in March.  The article features pictures of Alex Djuric (Alex D) and Tommy Couch (tommycouch) both members here and both MBCA  prize winners with their respective Pagodas.

Alex's prize was for Best Roadster and Tommy's prize was for Best Restored Car.  Congratulations!!

Take a bow fellows.
