I subscribe to the EPC. The last time I paid it was $75 for a 1 year subscription. I find it cumbersome to use and has no way to copy/paste part numbers. Plus I have to update Java to use the software and then it has to be reset if I let it sit idle more than 24 hours. Seems a bit antiquated by today's standards. My new preferred source for parts diagrams and part numbers is partsouq.com I can find everything the EPC has and it stays open in my browser. No fee. No sign-up. I find the part I am looking for in the diagram. Click on it, and the part number pops up. I then copy the number and paste it into the order form of my preferred parts suppliers online ordering system - currently mbpartscenter.com

Try this :

That is a good one too. Also shows prices. Price for a 280SL crankshaft $3.54?
Nice big diagrams. You can also copy/paste part numbers but still have to take out spaces between the numbers to get accurate prices.
Also EPC's for other makes including US cars. A good find.
I wonder what other free parts sites have diagrams and part numbers.

Frank,
I am struggling with partsouq.com probably due to my own lack of knowlwdge......but to search , the site asks for a VIN that must have 17 symbols and as far as i know our cars have 14. Mine for example is 113 042 12 015155 .
Am I missing something ?
Regards
Pedro

Pedro,
Just select the car. Select MB, then find your model, and click. Looks like you have 230 based on your VIN. Here's the link for the 230sl

Kampala,
Thank you . It works well....I was bogged down by the 17 symbol VIN request.
Thanks
