Title: Cigar lighter

Cigar lighter, 280SL, appears to be shorting out, burns up the fuse (25). Wipers and washer work fine. Will replacement of lighter element solve problem?  Appear as though radio must come out to remove old element and install replacement part.

Is it only blowing fuses with the lighter element in place? From memory the socket has a small fibre
washer which is all that prevents the unit shorting. You will need to take the unit out to investigate.
