Hi Guys.
London Calling!
Anybody know someone who might make a pair of wood bows, grill, and matching armrest - for a RHD 280?
If not, anyone got any of these to sell?

Thanks Steven.
Problem I have is that my old wood is beyond restoration. I need to replace.
Cheers.

Wouldn't the speaker grill be the same regardless of RH or LH drive?

I would think so?

I think madera can make new...call them.

JOH, I have not used Madera but a few months ago I did email Madera pictures of my wood bows, one of which had an end completely de-laminated (see pictures). They discussed restoration with me by telephone, in detail, and gave me a price to restore all pieces and match the finish. I weighed their price against new purchase from the classic center and opted for new bows considering that the cost was pretty much a toss up. I do not know if you can buy new bows for a right hand drive pagoda from the classic center but I would guess not. Madera also make new bow sets for the Pagoda as well as rear window wood. I do not know if they make bow sets for right hand drive models. If you are out of options it might be worthwhile to talk to them. They will not be cheap.
As I say I have not used Madera and have no connection with them..

Ralph you are right--Madera is not cheap!
JOH -if you have trouble search eBay
try this site : https://geo-ship.com
There are many MB restoration companies in Europe that I have come across ...it may take time but Google them ...they are out there.

Restoring the old wood has one advantage, that is, if the restorer does not change dimensions then one can be assured that they will fit. The bows were hand-fitted to the dash and new ones may need some adjustments.

Alfred, good point.

I just did a quick Google search for "Mercedes W113 RHD dash wood" and came up with several sources for new wood.

https://www.authenticclassics.com/Mercedes-230SL-250SL-280SL-RHD-4pc-Wood-Set-p/auth-004693.htm
This is the wrong wood and finish but they might be able to get the original kit as well.

JOH,
I am visiting the UK and attended the Practical Classic Car & Restoration Show in Birmingham last weekend. I met some guys doing wonderful work, repairing and remanufacturing wood panels for classic cars. We discussed the Pagoda wood work and the art of veneering.
Google PK Veneering.
